Just finished my new Featherweight bag!

I decided to make this cute little tote for my Featherweight. What's nice is that it also doubles as a cover if you turn it upside down.... great if you're working on a project and want to leave the machine out, but protected. (The picture shows it both ways.) The bag is actually designed to fit right inside of the regular Featherweight case, and the handles are there so you can lift the machine out easily.
The pattern comes from the Crafty Hipster website: http://craftyhipster.typepad.com/cra...ight-tote.html It has a little matching bag for the foot control, too. The fabric is all from Connecting Threads. The bird fabric is part of the "Cheep Talk" collection. :) |
Nice tote and cover!

That is great! Gotta try a couple of those, I have 2 featherweights and I need to keep the dust off of my poor little black one, at least (the towel I use looks so tacky!). Thank you for this!

Very nice, and pretty fabric.

What a great idea! Thanks for posting your bag and the link also. I need to make a couple of these for sure. Yours turned out great!

I love it. Thanks for sharing the pattern. Going to try to make one for my featherweight. Loved the colors and fabric you used on yours.

Great cover! I don't have a featherweight, but I can see where I could use one like that for my serger which has no carrying case. Not that I move it very often, but occasionally I have an opportunity to bring it to a sew-in but I hesitate because of the awkwardness of moving it. The only change I would have to make is to make it deeper. Thanks for the link.

Just wanted to offer a quick little follow-up. I don't use the original case for my Featherweight (because the stench from the case is quite ovewhelming :(), I use one of the Stanley rolling tool cases for it. Someone on this board had mentioned these cases but of course I can't remember who right now. Anyway, this is the case I store my machine in:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Stanley-3...8613/203367137 The Featherweight fits nicely into the bottom, and the bag does too! Just set the machine in the bag and the bag inside the case, and voila! it's so easy to lift it out using the handles on the bag. We sewing gals and guys have ingenuity to spare! (We are also broke, but that's another story. :)) |
Awesome! I just bought my first Featherweight!
