It is beautifully pieced and quilted!! Love the micro work you did. I have a question. When you do that tiny stitching and then leave areas of much less quilting, how do you balance it out so the quilt hangs flat? I am working on a small quilt on my home machine and I think it seems to distort a bit when I don't keep my stitching pretty even all over the top. Any tips?

Hi there! YES!!! One big tip that it seems a lot of people don't talk about, but the big name quilters do - BLOCK your quilt before you put the binding on. Dense quilting does have a tendency to suck up your batting and change the shape and size of your quilt. An easy way to block your quilt without having a lot of tools to do it - lay it out flat on a carpet, spray it with cold water, and pin it back into the shape you want - then let it dry. I block just about any quilt that isn't a bed quilt.

Also a lot of people don't like heavy quilting on bed quilts because they are afraid they won't wear well - yes, they will feel different after a few washes than a quilt that was lightly quilted - but the crinkling and the texture just add to it's beauty ...and even pebbling will soften up after a wash and still be cuddly.

Hope that helps!

I thought your quilting was inspirational. Can you describe what designs you quilted in the different sections and repost? Thanks. I love to see ideas of others and learn from great examples like this one. You are a 10 in my book
