Looks great.

butterflywing 08-19-2010 10:47 AM

wonderful quilt. and the feet and face are not too bad, either :-D .

if they don't hang this, all the kids will be arguing over who gets to cuddle with it during reading time.

Tweety2911 08-19-2010 11:37 AM

The quilt is adorable and I love the backing fabric. Some lucky child will enjoy this one.

mawmawbeve_60 08-19-2010 11:39 AM

barnbum 08-19-2010 11:40 AM

Just got back from dropping it off--it shall be raffled and the winner will be determined at the Chicken Barbecue on the 28th! She had the signs up before I left.

It turned out really great!!

barnbum 08-19-2010 04:03 PM

My d-i-l came over today and said again how much she loves this quilt. She wasn't saying that to have it--just loved the bear and the bright colors. I showed her the first one with the alphabet cut off a bit and asked if she liked that one--she did. So, she knows when she's ready for it, it's saved for her. We'll pull it out when she's ready and she can choose a back and I'll finish it up. Everyone is happy!! :-)

Judie 08-19-2010 04:25 PM

Oh my what a wonderful quilt.. I hope they hang it in the children's section.. away from grimy hands, but not too far away to be seen. It's beautiful.. great job.. Love your smooth meander quilting.. I still get hookies on my nice smooth curves now and then...

butterflywing 08-19-2010 04:42 PM

i wish you had been my m-i-l. anyone else could have had mine. although i don't know why they would.

Grammy o'5 08-19-2010 05:24 PM

That's very cute! I'm sure they'll love it (whoever wins the raffle)!

JoanneS 08-19-2010 06:20 PM

Darling! I hope they keep it instead of raffling it. I can picture kids snuggling with it during story hour at the library.

sewnsewer2 08-19-2010 06:50 PM

OMG is that ever darling!! That would be great for the kids to sit on during story time!

Lori L 08-19-2010 06:52 PM

It's perfect....your library is going to love this!

penski 08-19-2010 07:52 PM

ohhhhh myyyy that quilt is fantastic great job on the quilting
was that from a pattern?

AnnaK 08-19-2010 07:58 PM

Okay, I am dense. Did you put right sides together and stitch it up then turn it out and quilt only the center part? I am asking because I get in trouble every time I try this. Something ends up bunched up towards the borders. But...if you don't quilt the borders, then it doesn't matter. It looks like this is what you did but I can't really tell. Your quilt looks great and I think you're right about libraries. Ours are under such budget cuts that they are only open 24 hours a week now. But they are still not charging for held books or to order books on loan from other libraries. I think you made a great gift. You're a good egg.

Gramma B 08-19-2010 08:06 PM

Very pretty. Good job on quilting

zz-pd 08-19-2010 08:27 PM

That is so cute, and you did a fantastic job on it. God bless. Penny

earthwalker 08-19-2010 08:49 PM

Beautiful....will brighten up the library for sure!

kwiltkrazy 08-19-2010 09:00 PM

Barnbum it looks great. I am glad you got the alphabet to come out as you wanted it.

IBQUILTIN 08-20-2010 12:09 AM

I am the Library Chicken and I went to get a book, book, book. I ran into the library frog to show him, and all he said was "Ireadit" You have to read it quick but its fun. Just like that darling little quilt.

k3n 08-20-2010 01:11 AM

Yes--that's what I did! :-) I rarely do it because I like the look of a binding, but I added a 3" green strip to each to two sides of the back and it was still too close for comfort (should someone have measured one more time???)
So I ironed it all well and laid it out as best as I could, then pinned. I usually use basting spray, but couldn't.

Then I quilted it from the center out, with the exception of zipping around an inside border to give it some stability. The first outside border has no quilting--didn't need it--but the outside border is quilted. I simply did a wide zigzag in and around the piano key border--I think that's what that design is called. :-D

No--easier than that--it's simply a large panel with two borders added after the alphabet. The hardest part is dealing with crooked panels. :|

Shemjo 08-20-2010 04:40 AM

It is lovely. I remember the first one, and I am glad you dil likes it.
I LOVE my library as well.

Rina 08-20-2010 05:28 AM

This is so sweet!

Patched 08-20-2010 07:59 AM

A very special quilt for a very special cause.

AnnaK 08-20-2010 10:09 AM

You know, as I look at it again, I see no reason you couldn't put a binding on it at this point if you relaly wanted to. It would be just for looks as the quilt is already in one piece, but it you like the look of binding... Either way, it's a super quilt.

sandpat 08-20-2010 12:15 PM

Great quilt...I think turning it worked out just great on that one!

boxerlady 08-20-2010 01:10 PM
