Went to the Quilt Show in Bay City, Mi yesterday and they had made all their own ribbons....so much work but I just loved them....the director said they had a committee of 8 women that made them and their were 5 kinds...blue-first red-second-yellow-third salmon- honorable mention and green for something.... first quilt I think....just added so much to the show

some quilts had as much as 3 ribbons

I love the idea of quilted ribbons! Smart ladies at that quilt show.

MaryStoaks 04-24-2010 06:12 AM

They will get lots of entrants just trying to win the ribbon

Yeah, even if I knew my quilt didn't have a chance to win, I'd still enter "just in case" I might win one of those unique ribbons

that is a wonderful idea, especially for the smaller quilt shows!

STAR 04-24-2010 07:17 AM

I'm surprised no one's thought of it before.

Hi LindaR,
I think this just might catch on! So neat!

I have thought about you a lot this last week. I pulled out my christmas fabric to try and figure out what to make with it. I love it so much, I hate to cut it up. LOL!

What cool ribbons. So appropriate for a quilt show.

LindaR 04-25-2010 08:00 AM

the ribbon ends were really stiff and I think that what they did was wonderunder the two fabrics together. There was a raw seam in the back so they must have ironed the fabric over a strip and then folded the fabric over and ironed to finish.. they then cut the ends in a upside down V.

quiltluvr 04-25-2010 01:03 PM

That should be industry standard. Winning a ribbon is great of course, but that design really adds so much more meaning. Excellent idea. Glad you shared.

(When I was a kid, we had a cabin in Rose City that we'd go up to mostly in the winter to snowmobile.)

I love the ribbons! Something worth displaying!

The quilt ribbons are one of those ideas that make me slap my forehead and say DUH!!!!!!!!! I mean, it's a quilt show, right??
Seriously, what better keepsake for the winners of a quilt show.
Thanks so much for sharing.
