I just pieced this together today...
I can't decide if I should add the brown applique "bubbles" or circles.
I kind of like how it looks without...

thoughts?

I think I like it just like it is. Beautiful work!

Darlene 07-11-2009 01:55 PM

I really like it this way

crkathleen 07-11-2009 01:57 PM

Ditto! I like it the way it is. Very pretty!

I love how the colors are arranged, looks great!

mkanderson 07-11-2009 03:13 PM

I like it as it is! Beautiful

eparys 07-11-2009 03:16 PM

Wow - I really like it just the way it is - Looks great!

Sheila Elaine 07-11-2009 03:52 PM

I vote for arranging the bubbles out on the top & posting another pic so we can see how it would look both ways. (If that's not too much trouble)). I've seen pics in mags of patterns with them & it adds new dimension. That's my 2 cents worth. It's great either way.

tarib 07-11-2009 03:52 PM

Looks great like it is.

Esqmommy 07-11-2009 03:56 PM

I agree with everyone that it looks great, but I do think the applique bubbles add interest to the quilt and you won't regret putting them on. Are they a pain in the keester? Hopefully not! Nice choice of fabrics - really nice.

Ducky 07-11-2009 04:49 PM

I really like it! I kinda agree with esqmommy that bubbles would look neat, but my first reaction was that I like it the way it is. Looks like it might have been fun to do.

You go girl! You are a fast one! Love the colors and your piecing is perfect. I think it would look awesome with some bubbles! Crank those out tomorrow! No matter what you do, that quilt is going to be a winner!

tlrnhi 07-11-2009 06:29 PM

I'm with the rest of them. I like it the way it is

deedum 07-11-2009 06:32 PM

How charming!

i love the quilt top - you've been putting up some beautiful work lately - you must have a muse sitting on your shoulders.

i always have such a hard time following directions to the letter. i would do the bubbles but not as many as the pic on the pattern nor would i use their lay out.

i would start with a large circle towards the bottom left - i can't really give you a size because scale is always off in pic vs. real life - but lets just say a 6 inch circle for example.

then i would cut a 5 inch, a 4 inch, a 3 , a 2, and a 1.

then i would lay them out on the quilt top kinda forming an undulating S - but a soft shape not a perfect example of an S.

if the scale is wrong for 6 circle to swirl from bottom left to the top right then do a 7, 8, etc - until you have the shape and flow across the top.

i think it will add an element of vertical flow since this pattern is such a strong horizontal flow.

so any way - now that i redesigned your quilt and gave you tons of extra work - you should do whatever you like because in the end you're the one living it

:D

You are so wonderfully creative, KLue.

sewnsewer2 07-11-2009 07:56 PM

Thanks for the pattern :D

I would add some bubbles, it's pretty like you have it but it looks like it is missing something. Maybe use the bubbles in the borders?

sharon b 07-11-2009 07:59 PM

No prefernce since I don't know what the alternate would look like, but So far I think it looks great

No thoughts but it sure looks great so far!

SulaBug 07-11-2009 10:31 PM

I love what you have done with
your top already. But, I also think
if you wanted to add a bit more,
you could. Either way would be
great!!
:D :D :D :D :D

Bevanger 07-12-2009 05:27 AM

i love it as it is..... looks great!!!!!!!! :D

butterflywing 07-13-2009 07:13 PM

i don't think you have to stick to their suggestion either, but the bubbles would be nice if you feel like doing the extra work. i would have only a few bubbles, large, and maybe layered. think of a bubble within a bubble, but with one edge touching. cut out some paper circles and color them in to see how they would look and scatter them on the top. i think you only need three. odd numbers look nicer than even numbers. in other words, fewer ones, but more interesting than the ones they suggest. experiment outside the box. whatever you decide, it will be great work. please show us the finished project.

Quilt4u 07-14-2009 02:03 AM

Very nice.

Trugger

What a lovely job you have made - the colours are to die for - I love it, love it, love it.
I have to say I like it just the way it is - but it's your decision. Let us know what you decide :P

No help I like it as is but might like it more with the bubbles I just don't know

sandpat 07-14-2009 03:29 AM

It looks good right now, but I'd add bubbles to it...it would give it that "little something extra"!

bearpaw 07-14-2009 03:39 AM

Very nice - colors are great.

Knot Sew 07-14-2009 05:13 AM

The bubbles make it special; I like the bubbles on it :D

trugger 07-14-2009 07:09 AM

Thanks, everyone, for your advice...
I decided to stare at this for 2 weeks as - is ... then lay some bubbles on there and see if I like it more....

then, stare at it for 2 weeks more!

There's no rush as this is a Christmas gift.
(I'm a little bit proud of myself for doing it this month and not on Dec 24th)

sewnsewer2 07-14-2009 07:40 AM

Be sure and post it again when you get it all done.
