These are for my daughter. It was a Christmas plan, but I made them this weekend because she had a frustrating week at college and she asked if her dad and I would visit her this coming Saturday. :D I thought they'd cheer her up, although she's fine now. We're going to check out some stores she loves, go out to eat, and go hiking.

Every free evening I sew bindings on stuff I made this summer to get ready for the craft sale. Ugh! So it was refreshing to make something start to finish!

Those are cute!!
I'm sure they did cheer her up more even with Mom and Dad. Funny how our kids still need us when they aren't home, huh? But glad she's feeling better. :)

I bought some cute kids fabric I'm going to make some pillow cases out of and see if they'll sell at the craft fair. I'm going to get them done, hopefully after I finish this quilt top I'm doing.

What cute pillowcases!! The fact that you are delivering them in person will make them even better. I know how those visit lift the spirits. Sounds like a fun day

mrsj82 09-21-2008 08:12 AM

Those are adorable!

ccbear66 09-21-2008 08:16 AM

Oh I love them. I'm sure that it will brighten her day. Enjoy your visit.

barnbum 09-21-2008 08:17 AM

Thanks. Rachel has really gotten into camping this year--and she loves stuff that looks outdoorsy and woodsy. I told her I didn't want to scare her, but she's becoming more like her mother on a daily basis. She's asking for Thoreau's Walden for Christmas; we have two copies here because it was one of my favorite reads in college. Next she'll want Leaves of Grass. :D

tlrnhi 09-21-2008 08:19 AM

If she turns out to be exactly like you, then you've done a GREAT job!!
Now, go give Rosie some kisses for me :)

Janstar 09-21-2008 09:23 AM

Nice pillow cases Karla. They are so fun to make. It's a neat pattern. When we were in Yuma at the RV Park the sewing ladies were making them as fast as they could for Cristmas presents for G-kids. I made 28 of them myself. Good job!!

Bevanger 09-21-2008 09:27 AM

where oh where did you find the bear fabric? It would be perfect for pillowcases for my hubby & I
I love your pillowcases :D

Harmony 09-21-2008 09:44 AM

What awesome fabric! I love that pillowcase pattern, too. It's easy, and you always get great results!

And somehow I can't help but believe that if your daughter turns out to be just like you, that's a pretty darned good deal!

sewjoyce 09-21-2008 09:49 AM

Those are so cute! I've been making some for my grandkids for Christmas so they would have their own "special" pillowcase

Boston1954 09-21-2008 10:07 AM

Oh, WOW!!! Just gorgeous! That gives me an idea. I could make some for Jim for Christmas. With money so tight, it will add a little to what will be under the tree.

How special those will be to your daughter. I so remember the phone calls from my own daughters. Now they are both married and I still get an occasional phone call but not like college.

Pam Pollock 09-21-2008 10:29 AM

I bet she'll love those!! Very nice. I bet your fingers needed a break from sewing on all that binding anyway? Nice pillowcases. :D

Craftybug 09-21-2008 10:56 AM

Karla those are really, really nice, Rachel will love them. It is awesome that she is been more and more like you because this world needs another Karla and we can not dupe you.

Carol W 09-21-2008 02:39 PM

I know that the pillowcase pattern has been posted before. I would like to make them but I don't have the pattern. Would you post it again?

Thank you.

Carol

Here you go, Carol: http://www.sewing-pillows.web77.org/index.html

Bev--the fabric says Black Bear Mountain #6495--but it's cut off there so I don't know if there are more numbers. I only have a small piece left. I bought it at a huge craft fair called The Windmill this summer--it was only $5 a yard.

Aww--thanks for your sweet comments.

There's some on ebay!

chairjogger 09-21-2008 03:03 PM

barnbum 09-21-2008 04:14 PM

I just bought way too much stuff from this seller--yikes. But it was so easy--and oh so fun. It'll all be for pillowcases for gifts and to sell.

She has more black bear fabric!!

bluebird 09-21-2008 05:59 PM

What neat fabric, that alone will keep her cheered up, plus all the love that you put into them :D

sewnsewer2 09-21-2008 06:36 PM

I like these! It should cheer her up.

reneebobby 09-22-2008 03:01 AM

Those are niceand I wouldn't mind having some. What a great thing to make to get rid of fabric you have no clue on what to do with, which I have a lot of that.

Cordelia 09-22-2008 06:36 AM

I LOVE 'em. I hope they sell for you.

Our first craft fair (Autumn Fair) is coming up in two weeks. I'm so behind!

Celeste 09-22-2008 12:41 PM

Another Karla? I think the world can live with that and be darned thrilled about it too!
