I tried to get previous post updated, when that didn't work I decided to add the pics here. I still have to thread and try it out. I have only cleaned the dust out, which was minimal. I attempted to take the light bulb holder out, but the bulb came out exposing the tiny wire, and won't go back in correctly. the manual said it won't work without the light being on.

Oh wow, I think I have one almost like that. I bought it from the old owner of my home just for the table. Never tried to sew with it though. Good Luck getting the bulb back and getting this new baby sewing!

Did the base of the bulb break apart from the bulb itself? If so, unplug the machine and use some small pliers to remove the base. These bulbs don't screw in like a regular bulb, I believe you insert them by a gentle push then a slight turn, they fit into a kind of slot. I will go and check my Kenmore to make sure.

I just checked my Kenmore and the bulb does not screw in like a regular light bulb. To remove the old bulb, grasp the bulb pushing the bulb up gently and give it a little turn towards the back of the machine and it should come out, then replace with a new bulb inserting it the opposite way that you removed the old bulb. Notice the little bump on the base of the bulb, this little bump fits in the slot. I tried to scan a picture of a spare bulb, but it didn't come out very good.

and yes your machine will sew without the bulb.

I have the 1803 and love it-sews so smooth. Hope the advise above solves the lite bulb situation. Let us know how you like it.

Thank you for the inform. and advice. I need all the help I can get. Attempted to thread it yesterday to wind the bobbin, but didn't get far. I went on utube to find a video or how to thread, but didn't find one and went to flea market. it was late in the day and I was short on patience. I have the manual, but need hands on. I think I need to do a video and have feedback were I have faltered. stay tuned.
