Kids' Christmas dragger
2 Attachment(s)
Pattern Name: falling charms
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_6AEKTi6r0 Dimensions: 36" X 46" Fabric source/name: Makower panel, Connecting Threads layer cake Pieced and quilting by machine, Pellon Quilters Touch Polyester Several years ago I saw a puppy & kitty quilt online. Saved the pic to my ideas folder. Last year, I found this Makower panel at a thrift shop and knew I had to use it with this pattern and paired it with a CT blenders multicolor layer cake. As I was making it I realized that it was actually the MSQC Falling Charms block. 4 blocks are joined to make a larger block, then sashed. You have to be careful of the color placement on the strips and the orientation of the blocks, but it was way easy. I made one top and decided to give it to my Great Niece for her 2 little girls. Showed it to a friend who told me that I had to make another because the 2 girls would fight over it, so I did. One has a white background and the other has a white with gold swirls. Just meander quilted. Bound one in pink and one in green. Hope they drag them around until they are in tatters. |

Thank you for posting this. I love it. I've gotta make this. You did a great job.

That is so cute, I want to reach into the picture, grab it and start dragging it around myself. Great job and it will be loved!

I love these!

I have made the original Falling Charms pattern in the past, using solid and tone-on-tone fabrics. I just LOVE the "spin off" you have done here, by incorporating big prints and rearranging the layout! The use of white fabric means that the possibilities for using up 5" squares is endless ... no need to worry about color matching. I cannot wait to dive into my shoe boxes of 5" squares and make this quilt. My quilt guild does a lot of charitable giving to children and this is a perfect way to make a wonderful child's quilt while using up fabrics in my stash. Thanks so much for sharing!

Those are so adorable with the focal prints, would work for a lot of prints. Have it bookmarked.

That is so cute and will be so loved!
|
Very cute!

At first I thought this was made with partial seams, but you can just complete four squares and then sew them together. Looks complicated but is easy to make.
|
That's a pretty interesting pattern and your fabric choice works really well with the design. Great kid Christmas gift!!! Thanks for all the info and the link.

They are adorable and will be well loved!!

I can see a lot you could do with that pattern. Thanks for the link! |
I bet the two little girls wrap themselves up in the quilts every evening that they watch TV or read with their parents.

Fun Christmas quilts for those two little girls!
|
Great job, it is a joy when a gifted quilt is loved to pieces! Then, it is time to make a new one.....
|
So sweet. I want mine to be usd that way too.
|
Those are so cute! The girls are going to love them.
|
Love those, so cute.
|
Your friend was right--the girls would definitely over one quilt. Glad you listened and made a second so the one isn't in tatters for the wrong reasons. Ha. I like how you tamed the busyness of Falling charms with white and solids, and make the fussy cut fabric take center stage.

Very cute!
