I am having so much fun making kindle covers and still procrastinating the star quilt - I am going to start it tomorrow for sure. Well maybe today after my nap.

QuiltnNan 10-18-2011 11:33 AM

MamaQuilter 10-18-2011 12:05 PM

Beautiful covers :)

morelcabin 10-18-2011 12:12 PM

Cute! And I know exactly what you mean by making a lot of little stuff to put off making the 'big' project. I have been doing it myself lately, but have finally started drawing out the BIG ONE haha, and have it on my design wall to make me get serious about starting it....Get on it girl, can't wait to see it:)

tuesy 10-18-2011 02:25 PM

Very elegant looking covers!

Grandma58 10-18-2011 04:34 PM

Tomorrow I will start so when you are done with yours I want to see a pic!

Well i got a good start on it today, finally...I was a little lost on where to start, but once i get rolling it just all seems to come...so it should be in a couple of weeks or so

NauDeeGal 10-18-2011 06:05 PM

This is a great idea. Do you line them with flannel or cotton?

Grandma58 10-18-2011 06:17 PM

I line then with silky soft drapery fabric stabilized with woven interfacing. I think the inside should be very soft to protect the kindle, nook, or e-reader surface. I think flannel would be good and that bamboo fabric - or minky fur.

Very handsome cases.

Grandma58 10-18-2011 06:20 PM

Now I feel pressure - I like how the act of beginning just brings it all together. I only have to eliminate colors. I will most likely end up doing 3 or 4 quilts instead of 1 which is part of my procrastination.

That is what I was thinking that the inside would have to help protect the screen. Yours are very pretty too.

This just gave me an idea. My sons GF just got one for her Bday and I am stumped what to get her this would be a great idea, how big does it need to be ?????

texas8823 10-19-2011 05:00 AM

Wow. I love those.

Jim's Gem 10-19-2011 08:28 PM

Those are wonderful!

ruthie 10-19-2011 08:29 PM

Very nice.

Grandma58 10-19-2011 08:35 PM

I looked up the kindle size and made it a tad bigger so it would slide in easily. The size I found is 7.5 by 4.8. I think I added a little over an inch, 3/8" seam allowance.
I am going to try putting the zipper at the top instead of the side.
Have fun!

Handsome covers !

justflyingin 10-20-2011 02:13 AM

What are you going to do with them? Use them as gifts? for yourself or to sell?

Grandma58 10-20-2011 06:13 PM

I sell almost everything I make so I can continue making stuff. I did give one as a gift today though.

You're right! but traveling with the Kindle in my pocketbook with no cover was NOT good.....The Kindle just kept turning on as the buttons got pushed in my bag and the glass was getting scratched! If you ever DO decide to sell them and have put the zipper on the top....PM me please and I'd love to buy one of your beauties!!!

jackpolet 11-03-2011 10:44 PM

Mariposa 11-04-2011 01:03 PM
