Baby quilt I made Fri. eve & finished Sat. a.m. for a baby shower on Sunday. It was a last minute thought to add it to the gifts we bought. It was 75% made out of my stash, too. I had the backing for 2 years, bought it for $2.00 a yard, hoping I would use it some day. The strip pieces were leftovers from other quilts. I only bought the wide panel piece. It is teddy bears on blue and cream. Batting was a leftover piece from another quilt, folded and saved for a time like this.
It is for my great nephew, due to make his appearance the end of December. Kole Jayden Weaver, son of my nephew Kristopher and his fiance Jamie. It was the only quilt she received and she has it draped over the rocking chair my sister bought. My sister, Rose, Gramma to be, has quilt hangers and they are going to hang it over the crib. Jamie doesn't want to use it, she thinks it's too beautiful. I'm going to take the leftovers and make a blanket they will use, with fleece on the back. It will cost nothing, just my time, since it is all leftovers of this quilt and I have fleece from another quilt I did. I like the freebie stuff. And it uses my stash! Barb P.S. Remember my fiasco- the butt ugly quilt? Well, my BFF's daughter is getting married in March and asked for one just like this one for her gift! Out of my stash- all strips of leftovers! So my ugly is another's beautiful! I wanted to make somthing special as I am very close to her, but I feel great that this is what she wants because I like playing in the scraps! |
What a darling quilt!

I forgot- I thought this was my best quilt ever! The meandering was perfect, the binding went on perfect and exact. It looked made like a professional. I impressed myself!

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Keeps me energized!
I have a quilt top I'm working on- free pattern from quiltville- strip twist. I bought some strips from ebay. They weren't cut that accurate so I'm fighting with it now. I'm quite frustrated. OK, it was only $31.05 for the rolls, but I expected it would be better quality. Taught me a lesson! Since I need it for a fund raiser quilt for the 4th of Nov. I decided to set it aside (OMG- I've created a UFO!) and make a quick black and white quilt with a touch of red, backed with flannel. I saw a pattern in a fat quarter book and it looked like one I already have, so I'll dig out my book tonight and make it this week end. That quilt won't go to waste- I have the reunion fund raisers for next year. I'll actually get a head start! |
Your quilt is cute. When people say they don't want to use a quilt because it is too pretty; I tell them " Just think how beautiful it will look wrapped around your baby". I make quilts to be used and I tell them if it wears out or falls apart , I will make them another one. Elaine
