I turned a La Pass rosette into a square block, I see more of these in my future.

Lovely block...

I can see those in your future too! Nice job. I like the conversion of round to square.

Looks great.

QuiltnNan 03-22-2016 01:28 PM

nicely done

Tartan 03-22-2016 01:30 PM

Very pretty and it lets the block shine! The whole quilt of them are nice but in my opinion you can't really enjoy the individual designs.

Kathy T. 03-22-2016 03:10 PM

I love the secondary design your fussy cuts created! Gorgeous block.

Monale 03-23-2016 11:10 AM

What a great idea! I can't get enough from doing Passacaglia blocks, so that will be a great option to make more after the quilt is done! :p How did you piece the background?

busy fingers 03-23-2016 12:12 PM

Oh lots of little bits and fussy cutting - gorgeous and such patience.

I took 2 pieces of typing paper and glued them together and trimmed to 12.5 x 12.5 square, drew the 1/4 seam around the edges. I placed the rosette over the paper making sure all star points were inside the 1/4 inch marks (so none would be cut off). I took a ruler and drew a straight line off each star point to the outside edge. Then traced the edges of the star points. I numbered each piece 1 - 10 cut them out, made sure they were numbered on both sides drew an arrow indicating the outside edges (for no seam allowance) make sure you indicate the side that faces the fabric, use your pieces for normal epp, you will have seam allowence to fold over on every edge except outer edges (you have the seam allowance drawn in already you don't fold it over). I just machine straight sewed the outer border.

Thanks Ube, I had such fun w/ this it may appear in a certain up coming WH swap. (not this exact block, but similar)

Lilrain 03-23-2016 07:46 PM

That really turned out well.

Karen G 03-24-2016 04:19 AM

Very nice!!!!

twinkie 03-24-2016 04:38 AM

Are you going to make an entire quilt of these blocks or is this going to be a wall hanging? Looks great to me.

Kassaundra 03-24-2016 05:10 AM

This one is for the Boom swap. I have started and am half way through the real La Pass quilt so I will finish that one. After that I think I will make a quilt w/ these blocks entirely. It will be my next "hand work" piece.

quilter2theend 03-24-2016 06:12 AM

That is a pretty block. I would love to see your Avatar as a larger image.

EmiliasNana 03-24-2016 06:38 AM

The square really makes a nice "frame" for the gorgeous and time consuming block. Great idea!

Kassaundra 03-24-2016 06:44 AM

The designer of that block is amazing a prolific, here is where you can get the pattern http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilt...aftlet-pattern
