label question
1 Attachment(s)
I've never made a label this big on a quilt. Do you think label is too big? Would you prefer smaller? Quilt is 65 x 75 approx. Label is 8 x 9.
|
I think your label looks good. I usually like mine 5" x 7" or so. I don't know what you by 65 x 75
I have had some larger and they were fine. There was one that was about 10" x 12" and I wish I would have secured the center some how because it was a little "floppy" :D |
A lot of my labels are that big, especially on baby quilts. I try to include a picture of the parents on the label to make it more personal.

The label is fine and looks very nice.
I make large labels too. I double the fabric to so there is always a piece of fabric for any repairs down the road. I also stitch two corners into the quilt binding as you show in the picture. Did you machine embroider the label? Sometimes I change to a smaller font for my name and date at the bottom. |
Well, I just couldn't live with that large of a label, so made a smaller one. Thanks for your responses.

Lol, I just posted the same question in the 'chat about machine embroidery thread' the other day. I decided to go with my jumbo label. I posted a picture after it had been through the wash. It seems to be laying quite well. My biggest worry was that it would look a mess after being washed.

That label looks perfect for the occasion. I’ve made really small labels and really large ones. I think my largest was an 8 x 11, it needed to be that big to hold the ( letter) I wrote.
There is no rule about size. As long as it says what you want it to say it is * just right* :) |
I think it is a good size. I don't think there is a rule about how big or how small a label is on a quilt. You do better than me----I never make a label for my quilts to give away. I know "shame on me!"
|
I like it!
|
I personally like small labels, I don’t feel the need to put much on my quilt.
|
Personally I also like small labels.

Mine are 6 x 8. I say go for it.
