"Lady of the Lotus" finished top

Some of you were kind enuf to respond when I had some problems w/this top going together earlier this year. Turns out it was "operator error" :) I discovered & started doing the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilt w/the group on here & as I sewed & ripped & resewed the 6" Kansas Troubles block, I realized how much impact that little thread width off the seam allowance makes when you are connecting lots of pieces. I have a mark on my machine bed that I use for the 1/4" seams, but had moved in just a tad to give me that "threadwidth for pressing. Man did it add up in a frustrating way. Here I thought this pattern had a mistake in it. I didn't take the time to check the appropriate finished measurements for each section (which actually would have been easy enuf to calculate right off the printed grid page in the directions), but until the last few sections, didn't realize there was a problem accumulating.. Anyway, I'm now ready to tackle the custom quilting on my Tin Lizzie which will be my 1st from the front of the machine. I've gotten pretty comfortable following pantograph allovers w/the laser from the back of the machine, but have only done a few charity quilts this past couple years at that while getting my life back on track w/new beginnings.

WOW! What a striking quilt. The finished project is amazing. It was certainly worth ripping out seams to get such a beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see it quilted. Thanks for sharing.

Your quilt top is beautiful and such a work of art! I am expercing the same thing with my sewing machine right now. I have having to do a -0.5 setting to get the 1/4 inch seam. Noticed also while doing Sylvia.

Lovely piece! Glad you are tackling that 1/4" seam issue! :)
|
Such a gorgeous quilt! Love the colours - they remind me of the southwest. Great job getting the 1/4" issues wrassled to the ground. Good luck quilting - lots of wonderful negative space for playing.
