Lap quilt - opinions

I made this quilt top this weekend added the two borders tonight. I am thinking about adding a green border from the main fabric in the quilt what do you think? The blocks are TD9 and a version of TD9

Beautiful Quilt. I like it just the way it is. Personally I can't see where green borders would enhance the quilt, but I might change my mind if I saw it laid out that way. Either way I am sure it will be beautiful. Lovely work.

I would add a border of one of the darker colors in the last border if it were mine. You have enough green.
Think of it as putting a picture into a frame. Your picture frames aren't color-coded to your pictures and sometimes your borders look better if you don't match them to the center fabric, but match border to border.

Maybe a thin border of green then another color? It's a beautiful quilt! Don't know what TD9 is but I like it!!

Love the quilt so far! I wouldn't add another border.

I agree I love it the way it is. Awesome job.

its beautiful i like it the way it is

I agree with TanyaL that it needs another border. In the picture, the border looks too small for the quilt as it is. I do love your colors and think the quilt looks great.

If you add another border I would go for darker rather than ending with the light green. Maybe as has already been suggested a thin border of the green, then the background color of your print.

I personally would leave it the way it is! Very pretty quilt!

What is TD9?

mummadee 03-06-2012 05:47 AM

Lovely quilt as is, but I'd think that it would depend on how big you wanted it to be. If you're happy with the size you could consider it done and use the green for the binding.

I really like it the way it is, but If you really want to add a border, why not add a darker border, maybe a solid, dark purple? By the way, I love the colors in your quilt. They go well together.

I really like wonky and asymmetrical. And I so like the way your quilt skews what I think is the D9P block! Have you a pattern or source that you could share? And what is TD9 please?

fabric_lover 03-06-2012 06:28 AM

Your quilt looks finished as it is. If you insist on using green make a narrow binding with it.

I like it the way it is, if you add another border I would go darker not lighter.

JudyMN 03-06-2012 11:45 AM

Your TD9 is beautiful, but what does TD9 mean?

Monroe 03-06-2012 12:44 PM

What about picking another coordinating color from the border fabric, then using the green as binding?

kristen0112 03-06-2012 02:42 PM

TD9 is triple disappearing 9 patch. You make 9 patch then cut it apart and make it into another 9 patch. Cut it apart make it into another 9 patch then cut apart flip it around and sew it back together. On the other version I flipped the corner blocks around when adding the third 9 patch pieces. Thanks everybody for suggestions I have some thinking to do :-)

I wouldn't add anything else. It is really very pretty.

Beautiful :)

Love the quilt. I would add the fabric you have there now, but I would make it double the size it is now. Thanks for sharing.
