lap quilts for my kids and their spouses for Christmas
6 Attachment(s)
this year I decided to reserve Nov & Dec. to work on my own projects. My kids are always trying to "borrow" my sofa throw which has a minkee type back--so all these had those kind of backings. this is DIL & Son'sthese are SIL & Daughter's (wind picked up so laying on the hammock)son'sDaughter'sDIL's--use a panel to start this one as I did with daughter's tooSIL's--still needs binding and the colors are suppose to be the darker red and old gold of the S.F. 49ers--hard to find those colors in KC Chief's territory!
with the minkee type backing I didn't want to have too dense of quilting--wanted as much "fuzzy" there as possible! |
What nice presents. That one in solids is amazing. Reminds me of a kaleidoscope or a faceted gem stone.
all nicely done. i like the quilting on the black/gold/red
Those are all gorgeous! Who wouldn't love one of those? My favorite is the faceted one. Merry Christmas!

I have not quilted with minky fabric yet. They all look so nice and warm. I have a few in process that maybe i could finish and send out. Especially for my mom

It will be a happy fun time at your house as your kids and spouses open their lovely Christmas gifts. Great work. I think you have the right idea-set specific times aside for the truly important family projects.
Very neat projects! I know they will love cuddling with these now that they all have minkee backings!
Wow, you have been busy...lovely gifts!
Wow! Would you like to adopt me and gift me with a beautiful lap quilt too! Lucky kids!
I am betting on a bunch of happy kids! Great quilts!

Very beautiful and creative. Warm and beautiful- all that people desire during the winter to lift our spirits.
Beautiful. I can't believe you did them all in 2 months time.
Love your quilts. What is the pattern name for the striped one? Enjoy your holiday.
Did you put batting between the layers and if so what kind? Thank you.
Your family will love you! What beautiful quilts!
You've been busy. Wonderful quilts and gifts.
Wow! You have been very busy. They are going to love them.

Nice projects.

thanks all! to answer a few of the questions: yes, I did use batting--actually I pieced some large pieces I had from quilts I did for others, but all were 80/20 of a couple of different brands. The two quilts for the DIL (Egyptian motif) and DD (the Colorworks fractured panel with the Colorworks blocks panel cut and added to each end) are from panels with added borders. The other two were from Annie's Quilting It Takes Three(quilt tops from 3 yds of fabric). The dark red, old gold, black and light is the pattern "Slightly Ashew"by Lyn Brown--I enlarged it by adding another row across; the blue/green/print is also from that book,"How Does Your Garden Grow" by Julie Weaver--also enlarged but not to the twin size. I'm a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to buying patterns or pattern books, but this book was well worth it 8 patterns--since I've used 2 figure I got my $$ worth!
