Large dalia templets

Years ago my daughter picked a lot of fabrics from an upholstery end of line sale which included velvety and suede materials. She wanted a cover for her bed that was different from the usual douvet covers. I put this together but this was before I had learned about 1/4" or how to add wadding or backing so I just sewed it to a valance sheet . Why I am showing this is we were bringing Christmas decorations down from attic and this was in a plastic bag and I had forgotten all about it. Thankfully I have learned a bit more since then but will just put it away again as reminder of days past lol.

It's very pretty. I'd be tempted to make a quilt out of it after all these years!

Tartan 12-06-2014 06:49 AM

Yep, add the batt and quilt it up! Think of all the FMQ practice you can do on the background.

QUILTNMO 12-06-2014 01:09 PM

very clever!!!

redquilter 12-06-2014 01:18 PM

It's really nice. Maybe you should rethink putting it away and make it into a quilt.

That is just to nice to be hidden away. Bring it out and enjoy your lovely work.

I agree with these women. Why not quilt it up? It is certainly pretty enough.

Ditto what these two stated. Great ideas!

smashing dahlia! I would show that off!

Ariannaquilts 12-07-2014 08:42 AM

I agree with everyone else finish it up you can always say this is the way it started and this is the way it got finished. Your so lucky to still have it, you can do it!!

Annz 12-07-2014 08:44 AM

Memories, memories.

Wow, if you did that with upholstery weight fabric, you give me hope of doing it with cottons. I am impressed. For not "knowing" what you were doing, you did great. The center being flat really proves your determination. I would quilt the top only, then sew binding on from the back, encasing the edges of the dust ruffle with the binding for an easier finish.

Very nice. I am always amazed at how far I have come on my quilting journey, especially when I see one of my first quilts, which were nice at the time, but I have definitely improved my skills.

Caswews 12-07-2014 09:17 PM
