This is one of my first more advanced quilts that I did as a block of the month. I started it in 2006 and completed it this month. Between the RA I have and my anguish over not having my points exact, it took awhile to get it done. I sent it to the quilter then I put on the prarie points. I am presently making the pillow shams as it is going on the guest bed.
This is Nicole Chambers pattern "As Time Goes By". I purchased the floral fabric years before and was waiting for the right pattern. I selected other fabrics from the floral.

Your quilt is awesome and was definitely well worth the time to get it done!!!!

jljack 03-11-2010 03:01 PM

Great job, and I love the fabrics you chose. I have RA, too, and know how hard it is some days with swollen knuckles and burning joints!

nativetexan 03-11-2010 03:06 PM

I should have sent these pics too. The 1st was taken outside and the colors washed out. You can see the points are cut off.

What wonderful compliments from such wonderful ladies who are great artists themselves. You have given me so much inspiration from your pics and stories. I have gathered a wealth of information. Thank You!

Elisabrat 03-11-2010 04:04 PM

I think you did a marvelous job and should pat yourself on the back. If you end up with a point that is not perfect only you will see it, the rest will see a gorgeous quilt.

bj 03-11-2010 04:09 PM

Very pretty. I just love samplers.

marla 03-11-2010 04:55 PM

JenniePenny 03-12-2010 08:37 AM

Absolutely stunning. Wonderful work. I've just started this pattern as a BOM at my LQS and will be making block 3 tomorrow. The sad part for me is only getting the instructions for one block each month - I'd like to charge ahead with it!

Jois 03-12-2010 08:45 AM

Is "Intimidation" it's name! LOL Wow, that is pretty elaborate and it looks fantastic. I love the colors. You're pretty brave to continue after whatever they sent for a first block!

Tippy 03-12-2010 09:36 AM

Very pretty!!.. I love it.. I have problems with knuckles and hands too.. I know just what you're saying.. but this is a great job.. don't let anyone tell you different.. perfect is boring....lol

marla 03-12-2010 04:43 PM

Thanks to ya all! Yes it is called Intimidation. I cursed and sweated out every one of those blocks. Some were a little easier. (Thank You Lord)
Those who have RA, keep working with your doc til you get the right med. And walk away the pain. If its a bad day just go 6 or 8 blocks and stay away from sweets and fats. I can tell the dif. Also get 8 hr zzz and svoid stress.

Quilt4u 03-12-2010 04:46 PM

Just beautifl.

Hi Marla..great quilt, I love samplers and the colours are gorgeous. I try to get the points right but if they are a bit cut off I just think of it as proof that it is made by me, with love.

coastienest 03-14-2010 02:12 PM

Wow !!!! Absolutely gorgeous. Your colors are perfect for my house. I'd tell you to send it to me, but after you working so hard at it, you need to put it in a very very special place. Make sure to show it to everyone who enters your home. I'm sending you a huge pat on the back and a great big hug.

Marcia 03-14-2010 04:24 PM

It may have been 4 years in the making---but, wow, was it worth it!! What a gorgeous quilt! I love the prairie points---great finish.

Justquilting 03-14-2010 04:27 PM

Beautiful!!
Great job! Well worth the wait!!

theresse 03-15-2010 12:15 PM

You sure change me mind over Sampler QTs. I thought they were unwanted blks & augly sp? blk. I had made up my mind to stay away from them. Now I need to start making plans for one. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing Theresse

charismah 03-15-2010 01:17 PM

IT is beautiful!

marla 03-16-2010 05:34 PM

Thank you again. I have made the shams, just need to quilt and put on the prarie points on them. I think I have enough to also make a small throw pillow too.
Presently, I am working on Emily's Garden quilt from Connecting Threads. I am not sure I really care for the material as it seems to fray alot.

charvan 03-17-2010 05:57 AM

Gorgeous quilt!!! Well worth the wait. Glad the RA didn't stop you from completing it. Will look great with shams on the bed.

Oklahoma Suzie 03-17-2010 06:32 AM

Nice quilt.

RedGarnet222 03-17-2010 06:36 AM

I love your sampler quilt. So pretty and well done.

Someone at one time posted a quilter who sang a song about making quilts. It was hillarious! She suggested you just go ahead and lop off those points and get it over with ...LOL!
I bought three books and read them over and over because of those crazy points. I was talking to a teacher at a local quilt shop some time ago and she in one moment of inspiration taught me to make them. It was a combination of things I was doing that all added up.

marla 03-17-2010 08:04 AM

Hey RedGarnet.
What were the things your quilt shop told you? Love to hear.
I bought a small light that I attached to my machine and it has helped with accuracy. I didn't have enough light to see what I was sewing. I now sew slower and with more control to keep the 1/4 in. seam. I also try the scant 1/4"

Quilter7x 03-17-2010 08:05 AM

Wow, it's a really beautiful quilt.
