This quilt came about as I was determined to make a "scrappy" quilt. My quilt friend follows someone on facebook who has a mystery "quiltober" offering. It was a scrappy project and I decided I would participate. Well, I had some scraps, but since I use my stash I usually don't have quite enough. In this case I was going to use some aboriginal fabric leftovers so I pulled my scraps and bought a few fat quarters to round things out. Then I was putting fabric away from a wall hanging project I had just completed and realized I should have use those scraps for the Quiltober...Duh! Anyway, that's when I decided that said scraps would work for this pattern that I found on allpeoplequilt.com called "Vivid Grids".
https://www.allpeoplequilt.com/quilt...ows/vivid-grid While the colors I chose are not Vivid...I would call it more of a low volume look, I am happy with how the quilt turned out and did use most of those brown/rust/burgundy colored scraps as well as many gold-ish colored fabrics for the background. Went with simple flower stencil and ditch quilting. The pattern used 2.5 inch squares, but I like smaller blocks so I made mine with 2 inch squares. |
I prefer your color choices to the original pattern. Beautiful quilt.

Nice! I love your colors (always been a red girl) and the quilting is perfect!
And What a lovely finish it is! Great color combo.
Lovely quilt and quilting!
Wonderful quilt.
Fabulous finish!
Very pretty!
Beautiful quilt!
You had me with the colour choices as they are my favourites. Great vision, to switch up the colour/fabric choices for a fabulous finish. Seeing the glamour shot of the pattern, I would have been turned right off and not likely given it a 2nd chance. Good for you, for what you did!! |
It's beautiful! Very nice job.
 Beautiful! I like the stencil flower quilt design that makes the quilt look amazing!
Love your quilt! Thanks for the link. I downloaded the pattern! I'm thinking blues...
Yikes, I already have 5 projects going. |
Oh yes, I like your color choices much better than the original. I guess I'm just not a scrappy lover.
I love your quilt. You chose great fabrics. But I do like the bright version also. That would make a great quilt for kids.
You chose a great color combination and the quilting really elevated it. Love it.
Really lovely! Great colors too.
I love this quilt! Your fabric choices are beautiful as well as your quilting. Nice work!
I also like your choice of color. I would call it controlled scrappy which is generally my preference of scrappy. Job well done!!
