The camo quilt is my sons. He picked out the fabric which is a cotton canvas type. It was a PAIN to work with. I will never do that again. I didn't like this quilt until I got the backing on it. Now it kinda talks to me. The quilting is terrible. Just a SID around the blocks. Never to be seen up close!
This is the backing. I also used the backing as the binding. A first for me but I really like doing it that way and will another soon. And everyone has their own disappearing nine patch quilt! This is mine. Done with Moda's Wildflower Serenade. I just randomly put the blocks together and quilted with black on the front with a meander. The binding I put on the back first and wrapped it around to the front. Just something I tried. Probably will do again. Buddy is making sure this one is fully tested. The back. Havn't worked canvas with quilting, guess I won't even think about trying!! I have that fabric you used on the back, have used it on a couple of Home of the Brave quilts and have more to use in a quilt for DD who's in Arm. Love your Disappearing nine patch, havn't made one myself yet. Maybe someday!

Shelly--I love both of your quilts. I have some of the backing fabric from your son's quilt--I used it to make fabric postcards for veteran's day. I love your D9P-KTQ are my favorite!!! Gorgeous quilt.

You always do wonderful work! I've kept my eye out for the digital camo, two in the Army mean I need the digital design. I found some blue and white for my Navy nephew but he doesn't want a quilt of it. He want's "normal people stuff" Aunt Sharon. lol lol
You can show your quilting! Hugs, Sharon |
Those are awesome!! What a perfect quilt for a young man!!! What a good mom you are! I absolutely LOVE Disappearing Nine Patch!!! Awesome work!!

What beautiful quilts you have made. I love the one for your son & I am sure he will treasure it forever. Your D9P is gorgeous also. I am working on a D9P myself, using Watercolor Wraps in brown for my husband. Isn't that a fun pattern to do?

The colors, the patterns....but with it all together, I love it. They are coming out with a Wildflower Serenade II that I already plan to get a couple layer cakes of. Plan on doing a d9p with those big squares. :-) I have no idea where to begin about the camo quilt. Finding military camo quilting fabric in 3 colors isn't easy! So when we found the green, gray, and brown, we got it. I called it the 'camo vomit' quilt for quite a while! The canvas is just alot stiffer and doesn't like to move. When trying to sew in the ditch, if the seam didn't lay right I couldn't just run over it with the hopping foot and squish it down. It would bump me off course. It is really heavy too. |
GORGEOUS
