Latest QOV - Andrew's Stars
7 Attachment(s)
I just finished the binding on this one. It's a simple scrappy pattern that I think is very effective for a Quilt of Valor. My friend Andrew cut the kit out and passed it along to me.
If you go to Houston, look for Andrew and his Iwo Jima quilt. It is an amazing quilt - 12,100 pieces - and has gained him a lot of recognition in the quilting world. He started quilting as a way to deal with PTSD. He started making QOV and now he's a quilting force. He wants to use his platform to raise awareness for people with PTSD and for QOV. It is booked to be in several more venues in the next year. |

[Andrew] started quilting as a way to deal with PTSD. He started making QOV and now he's a quilting force. He wants to use his platform to raise awareness for people with PTSD and for QOV. I wish him well in this endeavor. I have a 40-year-old son who suffers with PTSD. Not something to wish on anyone. We had Andrew as a speaker at our guild and again at our assembly day. He had the Iwo Jima quilt with him. He lives local here and I am sure we will get to see more of his works. Amazing

Andrew is such an inspiration to all!! Beautiful quilts!
|
You forgot to mention that he is also a truck driver. I hope he's coming to GATS later this month & I get to meet him.
|
These quilts are all a tribute to our military vets. Any vet receiving one of your quilts will think of you always as the quilter that has given him hope. Andrew' quilt is something I have no words for. How do you express in words what you have created in art.

They are both so beautiful!!

Inspirational. I've never heard of Andrew but would really love to learn more about him and his quilting. He certainly is a hero in my book. The work he's doing for the Vets makes him an hero in my book. He has his work cut out for him. A big Thank You for the dedication and sacrifice he's giving of himself to others.

Great QOV quilt! And while in Houston, we got to see Andrew's Iwo Jima quilt--OMG! so many pieces, so large, so amazing. Unable to get a close picture of it myself cause he was there speaking to a group about it--a large group! It definitely is a stunner.
