Hi! Thanks for the wonderful comments! Thought I would post what materials I used to make this quilt. My daughter is a Kindergartner and this is her school class auction project. I found ideas online for handprint, footprint art, etc (try googling it --- there is so much!!) Once I found these "bug" ideas, I searched for bug fabric. I found the border gender neutral bug fabric online and used the colors in it for the block border color and the bug colors. Then I bought a white sheet and cut blocks to use for the critters. An acrylic paint called Liquitex Basics paint was used for the footprints and thumbprints (caterpillars). It is non toxic and wiped really easily off the children's hands and feet. For the antennae, wings and feet I used a good ol' black sharpie. And Voila!! Kindergarten auction quilt!! The auction is this weekend, wish us luck!!

I love this! My daughter's BD is in July. I would love to do footprints of her 2 boys this way. May I ask for a bit more info? what kind of paint did you use and is it machine washable? thanks for any help you offer
And I think I will include a block of their handprints-like butterflies or a wreath. hmmm. cherri |
