Well I changed the layout yet again bc I wasn't feeling it and hubby said it looked odd. So here is the new layout. I need another set of eyes to give me their opinion. I have decided making a quilt for a boy when you have none is harder than I ever imagined. I had no boy fabrics so all of this came from stash (on the Disney spending plan which means no fabric), so this is what I have come up with.
Please be brutally honest, bc if this was for a girl would have been done in 1 day! Thanks, Kristie Quilt with flash Without Flash to show truer colors |
I have more airplanes done in different colors so they can be changed, just grabbed some for the layout.
Please ignore the dane in the bottom right corner :) |
I like this!

Love it! Your colors and fabrics worked greatb
|
Cute! How about a pinwheel block in the bottom right corner? My brain does asymetrical ----
|
Looks like a fine male quilt to me. Nice pinwheel in upper left corner. A similar block in lower right block would finish it nicely. Good work.
|
I really like it. What is the block in the lower left corner? It looks too light for the layout and something with a little more color would finish it nicely.
|
I agree a pinwheel in the bottom right corner would finish it.
Good job. Love the pictures. A nice personal touch. |
The bottom right corner is the label for operation kid comfort. It has to go on the front. I have it turned around because it is white and with the kid and dogs want it to stay that way.
|
I like it, looks good to me how about putting another block at the bottom just like the one in the top left hand corner.

Thanks everyone going to start cutting sashing and hopefully get it together tonight so I can start on my little girl quilt tomorrow.
This was my first time paper piecing and I am in love with it! |
That layout works well I think. I like it.

The photos will be beautiful in the quilt. I don't get the square in the upper left corner it needs a balance in the bottom right of the same thing or take it out. I had to study it to get the 3 planes each corner. Try putting one, plane here and there thruout and balance it while doing so and see how that looks? You could use one plane on the back for your label and write on it with pigma pen.

I like the layout and have one question. What is the lower right block?
Edit: Okay. Is the signing block bright like the rest of the quilt? It needs just a bit more color for balance. Can that block be embellished to jazz it up? If not that's okay too. Another edit: maybe a red flange around the signing block to give some color and balance with the opposite corner and give the block a frame and importance. I keep going back to look at it and I really like it! |
It is a label block from Comfort for Kids, I have a great dane and that white block is right at nose height so I have it backwards to keep anything off of it.

mmm. Haven't read all comments. Here's my take
pinwheel upper right corner. to left & below, two photos In the next diag row left & below, 3 planes in the middile diag row 4 photos 3 planes 2 photos finish off lower left with another pinwheel. ... up up & away! |
I like it. I think its a prettyboy quilt.
|
Looks good.
|
I love it.

Could you exchange places with the top right corner plane and the one on the 4th row 2nd block in so that the wing colour to the one in the 3rd row would be different? Will the sashing be the black?

ok everyone the quilt is finished.
After lots of thinking and talking to my kiddo about it, this is what I came up with. The pictures all have the green removed and a white border added at the bottom and I will include a fabric pen for writing a description if they would like. The white block in the top left corner was left blank for the little boy to draw his own picture on his quilt, will include directions. The quilt looks a little wonky bc the design wall had all the pins holding it in place removed by the puppy. So to keep him safe I just let it hang and it curls a bit. So what do you think?
