As promised, I have taken pictures of the leader cloths as I have put them on the frame.
In this picture I have installed the velcro along each rail that a leader will be installed. To keep a straight line I used the line where the rail dips in, where the original tubing is supposed to go.

This is a closer look at the velcro

After trimming the the leaders to fit the frame I used a black sharpie to mark the center of the leaders. This mark is so I know where the center is when I start to pin the layers to the leaders.

Starting from the center of the rail I ran one direction at a time attaching the velcro. Here is the frame with all leaders applied.

Will you continue in this topic to add pictures showing how you attach your quilt. I have the leaders attached to my Gracie ll frame. Nothing helps me better than step-by-step instructions (with pictures). This board seems to answer so many of my questions before I even ask them!

I did not purchase the leaders for my frame. I wanted to but at that time I was cutting expenses. I used a heavy muslin for my leaders. When I got my machine, the instructor said to use duct tape to secure them onto the poles. I have found that after some time it comes off. but I also have problems with the velcro coming off the ends of the frame where the clips are secured. Let me know how the velcro works for you. I wonder if the glue on the velcro would give like the other did. Keep information coming on the progress of this.

Thanks,
Barb

Eventually any kind of adhesive is going to give, especially when there is pressure like we put on the poles when advancing, rolling etc.

If it gets to the point where they are slipping you coul dalways wash, starch and press yours. And in the meantime use some goo-gone and get all the glue off the rails and start over. Duct tape is some pretty heavy duty stuff so I would think it would last a good while.

Are these leader cloths heavy duty canvas? My friend has leaders of duck cloth (like you make sails out of) and it is too heavy for me to pin.
I was going to purchase the leader cloth from Grace, but I am concerned about the "heaviness".

I just tested them for you. I found them very easy to pin. They are canvas, but I do not think as thick as what your frined has.

Can you post some pictures of your frame? I would love to see it.

I am going to get a Little Gracie II frame. Do you have to have leaders? It looks like from the pictures of the manufacturer that you just add the material to the poles by the slots. I'm new to this and don't want to find out later that I needed leaders. The web sites don't mention them (Sew Vac and sewingmachinesplus. Thanks
