The local fly fishing club my family and I belong to is having its annual fundraising auction this month. I decided to make leader wallets (for storing your spare fishing leader in) to donate to the auction. Of course I had to make some pink ones for the ladies in the audience. It works great, keeps the men out of your stuff!

That is SO cute... I love it when our hobby spills over into "real" life!!

Are these to put ypur fishing leaders in or is that the name...anyway i like them

MissTreated 03-02-2008 02:54 PM

Yes, for putting spare fishing leaders in. Each wallet has 12 pockets and of course one may store more than one leader in each pocket.

How perfect is that!! You're so creative!!!

Much better idea than what I usually do with my leaders and lures...stick them in the brim of my ballcap!

Those are really nice and how cool is it that the same pattern can be manly or pretty!

I might have to make one for myself, too! I usually have mine in a ziplock baggie!

I think I am either going to need to get your pattern or pay you to make me one. Let me know how much! I think that would be a great fathers day gift for my fish-oaholic husband.

They aren't difficult, I made these 4"X12". The vinyl pockets are 3.75" X 12", then folded in half. I used timtex to stiffen them, and quilted the fabric to keep it all together. The binding is ultra suede.

How are the pockets made? This is something I could try for the numerous fishermen in my family! Thanks for sharing.

MissTreated 03-03-2008 10:03 PM

The pockets are made by cutting a strip of vinyl 3.75"X12". Fold to center. Stitch along the sides, using a 1/4" s.a. Then, I stacked 3 together (giving 6 pockets, 12 all together) and stitching down the middle of those to secure them to the wallet.

Or a pocket in a fly vest, or float tube...

Cute, good imagative design!

Very clever. I think I will make one for my son in law to go with a fishing licience, his annual birthday present.

I even put a license holder inside, just for that purpose. It's sewn in between the two sets of sleeves, sewn on three sides so you can slide the license into it.

What is timtex and where did you buy it?

MissTreated 03-05-2008 06:32 PM

Timtex is a very stiff "interfacing" (for lack of a better word) and can be found at a local quilting store. It is much like a very heavy weight pellon interfacing, used for stiffening the fabric bowls you may or may not have seen.

Ok, thanks. I use something like that with the postcards
