Catching this little guy was a true lesson in patience for my DH, but he caught him finally.. :)

how adorable! we don't have any yet but after they've been here a few days it doesn't take much patience, they're everywhere and if you just stand still they'll practically land on your head.

Wow...absolutely fantastic Shadow, he must have 'pots' of patience to catch it in action, how many pictures did he actually take to manage to get a good one????

Last year I was sitting hand sewing under the covered terrace and this little leaf cutter bee kept buzzing around me...then I realised it was laying eggs down the centre of my lamp (the end was missing) so...I set myself up and eventually managed to catch it....here she is....

Wow amazing photos. To this day my husband, who is fast approaching 40, has never seen a hummingbird in person (real life). We put up a hummingbird feeder, but they never came. :(

We had a similiar thing as the bee happen to my daughter's crib, we had one of those leaf cutting bees (flying bugs?) taking leaves into the support springs of dd's crib (before she was born). I suppose we're not "nice" because I had dh wait until the bug was done and seal up all the holes. No more bug trouble since....

That is a cool picture of the bee too!

Wow, what patience!!! Catching a hummer holding still long enough for a photo is an extraordinary feat!!!!

When we were living in Florida, I bought a hummingbird feeder and a shepherd's crook to hang it from; daughter was skeptical about the actual existence of hummingbirds. I said, "If we hang it, they will come."

We spent many happy hours watching the hummingbirds feed and swoop about the yard . . sometimes as many as four at a time at the feeder.

Aren't they wonderful?!?!

OMG!! I LOVE HUMMINGBIRDS!!
Miss them so much! When we lived in GA, I would be out in the front yard tending to my flowers and had a feeder in the tree. The people who lived at the other end of the 4plex I lived in also had a feeder. There would be hummingbirds flying back and forth to each feeder. Sounded sometimes like a swarm of bees with their wings. They never seemed to be bothered by me doing my gardening. Bill did get a picture of me there with the birds in the feeder above my head. I need to find that picture. Heck, that was 11 years ago. Wonder where it is? Hmm......

Ohhh Shadow just beautiful. I'm with the others, such fascinating little creatures aren't they? Just beautiful to watch too.
At my sister's house we have to dodge the little guys, they'll buzz right by our faces, sometimes I think they are intentionally having fun watching us duck and dodge them. I never knew how territorial they were until I really watched the males defend "their" feeders. They don't share them very well with others LOL. I've seen them get into tiny little sword fights with those beaks.
Tell DH of yours thanks for sharing all his patience with us!! Beautiful pics!

Izy...way cool shot of the bee too!

How cute is that!?!?!...Love them both...I've got some babies myself I'll have to download....latter...

When we lived in the country along the river we had so many Hummingbird you couldn't weed the flower bed...just kept my busy filling up the feeder....does it you?

Those are great pictures! All of them.

Have you ever heard two male hummingbirds fight? A few weeks ago I was outside on my front deck, and one came and sat on my arbour a few feet away. Then a minute later, another came. The first one started flying around the second, and they both started "parrying" (sp?), and chattering away at each other. It was hysterical.

Wow, great shots! I have a couple of feeders hanging in the back yard. They sure guzzle down the sugar juice. When it's this hot I don't see many during the day. I have one hanging in the apple tree, and there are frequently ants that climb down the hanger into the little flower holes. I finally tried Vaseline, and it's has almost stopped the little crawlers.
