Hopefully this works and I have a picture posted along with this now!! I had planned on making this Dresden plate as a 'trial run' to see what I thought and was going to quilt it and use it as a chair cover for a small, antique chair I have. I showed it to my husband and he said no way are you putting that in a chair...you need to make more of them like this one- they need to be a quilt! LOL I used fabric scraps I bought for a dollar at the Ozark Folk Center in Mt. View...I guess a Dresden quilt has been added to my WIP's!! LOL The plate itself is about 14" in diameter and the finished block will be 16 inches.

Woohoo, it worked! Also, this still needs the center and background, so I have it laying on my ottoman so the middle is not going to be the dark blue you see there.
I like it! I like it a lot! Too bad that's not the actual back ground fabric because I think it's perfect.
Good job, I agree with cjmomma, the background goes very good with your colors.
I agree that background is perfect! Looks great!

i have just bought the dresden plate ruler, its a lovely pattern and cant wait to have a go... also use it for grandmothers fan designs.
Thanks everyone! I was able to get a few more wedges cut out last night from the scraps I had and now need to find some more prints similar in style to keep going. I don't have the ruler yet but got a cut out pattern online to just try it out. Think I will be investing in that ruler now!!

that is a pretty dresden.
My first thought was how pretty it looked.
Second was smart DH. Then I realized the background will not be the background. What a shame, so pretty just the same. It will be even lovelier when completed. |
Watterstide, here is the link....it's from sewmamasew's blog and I used it because it was larger and better fit the chair seat I WAS gonna put it on...LOL
