This is the first OBW I started, following along in cutebun's tute earlier this year. This one was a bit of a learning curve to fit together...
I'm loving the layout, hoping that it will look flat once I'm done quilting it. Life of Snow top |

Great Quilt. Love the color combo.
Beautiful design!!
Very pretty! How about a pic of the original fabric. I'm still trying to learn what would make a good OBW. Your selection is great!
Oh, yes, that layout is great! I think it will lay perfectly once quilted (my poppy OBW was a lumpy mess before I quilted it and it is laying beautifully now.)
very pretty. I love your title. It does look like snow flakes!
It's very pretty, and you were very creative with it. Good job.
Awesome!
Holy cow! Those tiny obw's are so cute! That is a great idea. I'm gonna steal it! Who says they have to be the size indicated in the book as long as they are 60 degrees. Love it.
Very pretty
Love it too
I love it. Am still looking at my fabric and am shaking with fear of messing it up.
I love the mini OBW border. The material you used looks like the fabric my sister was on the hunt for this weekend.
I bought stuff to do a OBW, I read the directions and had a brain fart and still washed the material before I started.... Now I'm trying to figure out a way to fix it! the one thing the pattern said was do not pre-wash the fabric. |
Your quilt is named appropriately! Very striking quilt!!!
Thank you all for looking and commenting, glad you like it. This board is just wonderful.
Ripped on Scotch, I prewash all my fabrics and prewashed these, too. Some people on the OBW tute threads recommended starching the fabric after washing, to help pin and cut the layers precisely. (I didn't starch mine and it still worked.) |
Very nice.

I dito that! "MoM",
I am wondering what You have in mind for the quilting? Flat is Out!!! Join me on the Quest, to give these quilts Al-2-tu-ed. I have just been introduced to this thing Called OBW... I just have a hard time doing the same thing more than "ONCE". Ha Ha!! I have Cutebuns as my Adop-a-"MoM", All things in my path to quilt perfection is removed by my "MoM"... This is not just a board... it's a Global FamDamily. The lighter blue in the center boarder makes it look like a still water pool with lilly pads floating to the center. BUT thats how A GUY would look at it, It draws your eye to the center with the movement of the Hex's. Is there a reason for the placement of the center hex's more on top than bottom? Good Job. Ray..
