This was a fun quilt to make, and I was able to use up a lot of my batik scraps. And of course, I requested my longarm quilter to use a puzzle piece pattern for the quilting.

I named it: "Life. Always A Few Missing Pieces"

...a few missing pieces!

Me Too!! The quilting really sets this quilt off! Your Batiks are gorgeous!!

quiltinggrandmaca 06-15-2010 02:56 PM

That is one beautiful quilt.

quiltingnonie 06-15-2010 03:01 PM

It is really quite simple...each block has one small square of the fabric from the block to the side of it and the block below it. So although the actual block construction is very easy, it's the PLANNING that is crucial to the make the pattern work. I used graph paper and colored pencils.

You know, puzzle pieces are the symbol for autism, because it's such a puzzling, confounding disorder. I'm putting this pattern on my list, in honor of my DS!!

anicra 06-15-2010 06:41 PM

Very nice.

Three things I like about that quilt:
1 - that the puzzle has a "border"
2 - the quilting
3 - the fabric
4 - the black frame
5 - the way the pieces go back and forth in the pattern (not sure how to describe it better)
oh, did I say 3??? There's lots I like about that quilt!

I have made my grandson this quilt pattern for his first Christmas. We now have two more grandkids born so I will make two more of this pattern for them this Christmas.
I agree they are fun to make.

Great looking quilt you have made.

montanablu 06-15-2010 07:02 PM

Love your quilt! I've made this pattern myself -- but did not think of the black for the 'missing pieces' Wish I'd thought of that!! Very clever!
