Sorry he is so sick -- such a little guy to be going through this and a tough road ahead. I'm sure your quilt will be comfort to him during his treatments -- great for snuggling!
For a fundraiser, why not suggest you make a quilt to donate that they could raffle at whatever fundraisers they do for him? My cousin's grandson passed away in Oct 2009 at age 13 from bone cancer. The parents have since started an annual 5K Run in his memory -- I donated a quilt for their pre-5K gathering raffle! It really made me feel good to pay-it-back and I'll be doing the same this year in September.
Best wishes for your young relative and hope he has a speedy recovery.

katlady 02-02-2011 08:20 AM

IBQUILTIN 02-02-2011 09:31 AM

It will be fun for him to be able to wrap up in that quilt and pick out names of friends and others that care so much. What a thoughtful thing to do. He is added to our prayer list

Charming 02-02-2011 09:39 AM

First of all I am so sorry about the kid (he will have a special prayer from me today).

The quilt is just stunning (pattern, colors, idea...) and i loved the backing. I never thought of doing this in the back, i will try it on my next quilt.

what is used to sign the quilt (not to go with washing)?, and what is the pattern u used?

Thanks a lot

Faten

Grandma Peg 02-02-2011 01:47 PM

What a nice thing to do. Hope all goes well.

Sandi19 02-02-2011 02:11 PM

So pretty! I hope he'll be healthy soon.
I made 2 quilts and some pillowcases for two boys with cancer. They both liked to surround themselves with pillows made of "their" cases. You might want to do a few of those, also. Fighting cancer is a tough, tough job for anyone, especially a child. I think you'll be surprised how much the quilt will help him. Sometimes the patient gets very chilled during treatment and the quilt is a little touch of warmth and security.
Your quilt is adorable and I'm sure he'll love it. The parents will appreciate your love shown thru the quilt. Blessings to the whole family...I feel so sad when I hear about a child dealing with this disease.

IDquilter 02-02-2011 03:59 PM

Sorry to hear about the little boy, this quilt should really boost his spirits. I love the quilt and the colors are fantastic. He can now have others sign his quilt - good job.

I use sharpie pens to sign, then iron to heat set the ink. The pattern is a signature block. This is a 6" white square with a 3" colored square sewn in the corners.
