I'm working on a my first log cabin quilt and am *amazed* at all the possibilities when laying out the pieced blocks! I can't decide which I like best, and I am certain there are even more layouts available.
Would you please share a picture of your favorite LC layout? Thanks! rf |
I have all the blocks sewn for a log cabin top myself. Can't wait to see the responsed to your question. I have arranged and rearranged too many times to count. If you type log cabin into search, you will find quite a few good ideas.

Mine are just small wall hangings, so you would have a lot more options with a larger quilt.

They are both beautiful, thanks!

Dana, ck out the bears in the cabin thread, also.

This is one of my many UFOs  WIP sounds so much better, Iknow we'll call it a long term WIP  . Is still in blocks but this is how I intend to assemble it. Will have more blocks than this but this is the overall layout.

hmmmm ... i must be a degenerate. WIP sounds kinkier to me than UFO sounds straaaaange.
    PS. love that block. that half-pineapple is way kewl! :P |
I know what a WIP is, but what is a UFO? :?:
|
WIP = Work In Progress
UFO = UnFinished Object all references to "the F-Word", by the way, are to the work "finished". around here, that's practically a 1st class cussword. PIG = Project In Grocerysack (as in you've bought the stuff but haven't started the project yet.) PIMTWI = Project In My Twisted Imagination |
beautiful quilts cynde! shelleyq, those are some great blocks! can't wait to see the f****ed project!
Thanks for the inspiration ladies. I have sewn my blocks and will post a picture soon....it's similar to shelley's setting, but a *little* different than any I've seen before. I absolutely love it! danna, can't wait to see what you come up with, too! rf |

Thanks Patrice for the info. I wouldn't want to cuss :D . We were down in your neck of the woods first week of May visiting our sister-in-law in Richmond Hill. Fell in love with Savannah. Didn't get a chance to fabric shop, but had an wonderful low country boil dinner!

They are all very beautiful!

I love then all. I am really hooked on log cabins and just recently got into string quilts.
|
Those blocks are really inspirational.... thank you. They are beautiful
I am working on a charity quilt using a mock log cabin. I am lost at how to place the blocks..... It has a center square and then only 4 strips around the outside, so they can't be set up like ordinaray log cabin blocks. suggestions would be greatly apprecialted. Quilter 1234 |
Hi Quilter1234, can we get to see a pic or drawing of the block, Would help to be able to see it, and then I bet somebody'll come up with some great ideas. Cheers :D

All are beautiful. Have never tried a lc --now it is on my TDL.

I am in awe of all of your quilts, I can only hope to accomplish half of what you all do. WOW
