Just finished the last block of this quilt and have been laying it out prior to sewing blocks together. We have totally remodeled our bedroom around the colors in this quilt, am very excited to be doing the final assembly of the top. I now just have to decide, hand or machine quilting? I had planned on hand quilting but with all the seams to stitch through it may be rather daunting.

Very nicely done. If you have your heart set on hand quilting, why can't you quilt on the strips themselves and not on an actual seam? This of course may be a stupid question, I don't hand quilt myself, only machine quilt but sometimes I only quilt on the strips and not in seams with a machine.

Very nice, it will be wonderful when you've finished it, great colors scheme.

I like it!

cindy4857 10-31-2011 01:26 AM

Very very pretty. I like that you used both blue and pink together. It will be outstanding when your finished. For the sake of sanity I'd say machine quilt. Lots of lines and fabric to be hand quilting threw. But ultimately it's up to you and what you really want to do.

Love this quilt! The colors go together great. And, it will definitely match your bedroom, since you've redecorated around it. After you get it quilted, send us a picture on your bed. Great job.

Beautiful. I say machine quilt. It will be daunting indeed to hand quilt. But that's just my 2 cents worth! LOL

Joset 10-31-2011 03:47 AM

Loving the 4 block centre. Super colours. Congrats and looking forward to seeing your finished quilt

LOVE log cabins. The hardest part is deciding on block layout; so many ways to amp it up. Yours is wonderful.

star619 10-31-2011 04:43 AM

Lovely! The touch of soft brown was inspired. I know you will be very happy with it.

Cherylsea 10-31-2011 04:53 AM

I don't hand quilt so this may not work but ... couldn't you modify the large pink outlined flower from the fabric and do a flower per each block? Going to be pretty no matter what you do.

CorneliaVa 10-31-2011 05:16 AM

Nice variation with the four-patch center ..... good color combinations ..... overall I'd say you did a wonderful job.

I am a handquilter, so that would be my choice for this log-cabin ... gives a nice mirror-image pattern to the back ....

QuiltforPD 10-31-2011 05:29 AM

Very pretty! The pattern and colors you picked are a perfect match!

blondeslave 10-31-2011 05:42 AM

Pretty!

QuiltE 10-31-2011 05:57 AM

Oh Sew Nice ... I particularly like your 4P centre!

bfvsloggie 10-31-2011 06:08 AM

Even quilting in the strips will entail crossing a number of seams. I love hand quilting but it's not just that. I haven't had a lot of success with machine quilting. Handling all that materiel with my machine resulted in puckers and I was very unhappy with the results. I'm also thinking of paying someone to machine quilt with a long arm but hate the idea of doing all this work and then not completing it myself. Thanks for the interest in my project :-)

Beautiful quilt. Love log cabins and yours is charming.

Quiltmaniac2010 10-31-2011 08:19 AM

It is absolutely wonderful!! Love your colours. I would machine quilt it as there are so many seams. But whatever you decide it will be lovely. Please post pictures when you are done. It's OK, we'll wait if you decide on hand-quilting!

KiwiQuilter 10-31-2011 11:24 AM

I am currently hand quilting a log cabin - and it has been quite a mission :) The design I selected cross too many seams.

If I was going hand quilt another log cabin, I would do a simple design - and just quilt a straight line through the middle of each block (away from those pesky seams). :)

Your quilt is going to be absolutely beautiful when completed. Love to hear an update on what you decide to do, and of course a photo when finished. :)

TrenbeathRanch 10-31-2011 11:41 AM

Beautiful colors. Hope that you post pics after it's quilted!
