Lone Star
3 Attachment(s)
This is the first (and only) quilt I had made until recently. I started it in 1992 and it took me nearly 7 years to complete the hand-quilting on it. I decided that I wanted to make a quilt, bought a book and some fabric and made the top. A neighbor was an experienced quilter and helped me place the designs on the borders, told me where to start and moved away. The rest I had to figure out myself! If the pics were better (sorry) you could see how uneven and big the stitches in the diamonds are where I first started (from the center outwards). Fortunately, by the time I completed the borders and wreaths, I was much better. It is now on the bed it was made for, which is in our guest room. I swore I would never make another quilt and didn't until I found out that I could make the tops and send them out to be machine quilted! :)

Oh that is very pretty. And oh so much work . I like it.

I love lone stars. Your colors are great. I can't imagine the time you put in to do the quilting. I like your choice of motifs but yes there are longarmers to do that part.
That is stunning. Beautiful job.
It is so very pretty and looks beautiful on your bed. I am sure that your guests will appreciate all your hard work. Your piecing looks perfect and the quilting is lovely.

Beautiful lone star quilt. You did a great job. Keep up the good work. Don't be discouraged. You started with a somewhat difficult pattern.
Wow!! That is gorgeous!! Just imagine how well your others are going to turn out since you did such an awesome job on your first. :)
Your quilt is so beautiful.
Wow! I would have never picked that pattern to start! You did a wonderful job on it. We all have a learning curve. You just jumped lots of steps I am still learning...no diamonds or triangles, yet. You were a very brave woman.
Congratulations on finishing this project! Your quilt is lovely and the purple really makes the center and points of the stars grab your eye. Great color choices throughout!
That is stunning.
Thanks to all of you. I am heartened by your responses. I loved the pattern and never thought I couldn't make the top, it was "just sewing" after all and I'd been sewing for many years. Little did I know back then! I have since found out that I had a lot to learn! Lol

It's stunning....bet you wished you had started with a cushion or a mug rug! You have such a beautiful quilt to show for all your work....look forward to seeing your next one.

It is very pretty!

Yikes, talk about starting with a very hard pattern! It's very pretty and you should be proud of your accomplishment. Simply lovely! Don't stop quilting. Just try some simpler, beautiful patterns that won't take so long. After you do some easier ones, you'll feel more confident and will enjoy it much more.

Beautiful, gorgeous, lovely, fantastic quilt!!
