I received a wonderful box of goodies today from GaiGai - the star attraction being an appliqué Hallowe'en wall hanging. Also, some fabric for OBWs, a couple of books, goodies and cowboy hats for the kids (including some spooky eyeballs which they homed straight in on!) and some batting. Even my Dougal Dog and Barney Cat got some treats.

Thank you so much you kind, generous soul and bisous right back atcha! :D

Close up showing the quilting - it's little bats!

It's great for Lily cos she scared of spiders but she loves these ones. :D

I forgot to mention the rock crystal thingy - I just dug out the white vinegar and we'll start that growing this evening. :D

Let me know how that works out. I picked that up at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago last year. Alas, I no longer have nieces and nephews young enough to enjoy that kind of stuff. :(

Tell Lily that those spiders are sweet and just want to be petted!

k3n 10-15-2009 07:54 AM

Oh yeah, she loves them because they're fluffy and DON'T wriggle!

What a wonderful box of goodies. I love the quilt and hairy spiders. Joey and Lily could sneak right into Texas with those hats. You just have to teach them to say Ya'll.

What a great package,

*starting to think how I can suck up to Gai to get one of those as well)

k3n 10-15-2009 11:55 PM

Thank you all, yes I feel very lucky! Gai is a wonderful gal! :D

Even though my house now stinks of vinegar - one of the things was a rock that grows crystals if you let it sit in vinegar for a couple of weeks, and it HAS to stay right here on the dresser so the kids can keep an eye on it!

Hans and I snagged some of the sweets while the kids were in bed - LOVE those Reeses Pieces! :D Hans preferred the Milk Duds.

Patti - don't tempt me, #checking out flights for two kids to Tennessee#...

gaigai 10-16-2009 12:08 AM

I'm just glad she didn't look too closely at the quilt. It's my first applique. But like I said, I had a blast making the spiders! I kept playing with their hair. I even contemplated getting a little Barbie doll hair brush! ROFL

I'm waiting to see who the kids punk with one of the gummy eyeballs!

Anyhow, Happy Halloween Joey and Lily!

amma 10-16-2009 12:12 AM

Awww how sweet gaigai!!! What a cute quilt, I love the spiders!!!
The kids look so cute in their hats :D :D :D
Yep...are they taking their eyeballs to school LMBO
I took 2 boxes of Milk Duds on my flight LOL

Hey, Lily's got one of those (of course, she's a five year old girl!) I'll get her on coiffeuse duty! :D

quilter1962 10-16-2009 12:40 AM

Ah how sweet is Gai to send over a surprise for you all. I bet the children were really excited.
Love the wall hanging too, I tried to screw my eyes up Kathryn to see if I could get a better picture of the bat quilting!!! LOL my eyes are obviously older than I thought.
Is Halloween celebrated in France? I don't remember it being so when I lived on the German/Dutch border. However its becoming more & more popular over here.
BTW I think that spider is wicked

Tisha

k3n 10-16-2009 12:53 AM

Hi Tisha - I used the macro on the quilting so I don't think I can get it any better but it's really cool!

There's no trick or treating here or anything like that but there is some Hallowe'en themed stuff in the shops. It's more general autumnal though, like pumpkins and such rather than the spooky stuff. Hans says in Holland it's hardly recognised either. :D

gaigai 10-16-2009 01:06 AM

In the photo of the quilt you can see one of the bats in the top left corner. Kinda. I think that quilting shows up best in photos when it's taken at an oblique angle.

Thank you for your kind words!

Bevanger 10-16-2009 05:33 AM

wow. :D
