My great aunt gave me her White Model 77 rotary machine. It is in its original cabinet. Has all the original feet she bought with it. The origianl notepad w/pencil on string attached, bill of sale from Famous-Barr, manual, warranty, White Buttonholer, original oil can, too!
On the cabinet, the top drawer still has the Bakelite No. 60 needle "bin" for used needles and the second drawer has the bobbin and tool drawer that slides from front to back. The only dirt is a touch of dust from sitting in her spare room for years. I do have one question, can I use modern day sewing machine oil on this? I posted the question on the Vintage Come in and sit awhile page yesterday, but no answer or response to my post yet. Thanks for looking! Yes, that is Boo again. She is always "helping" :) |
what a sweet aunt, I don't see how todays machine oil could hurt anything, I use it on my treadle

Wow, what a beauty.
|
Wow! She's a real beaut. I have a soft spot for rotary machines. I have 2 of them now. My DH seems to be able to find them for me. To answer your question.... yes you can use modern sewing machine oil on it. When storing her I put a wedge between the handwheel and the rotary part so that you don't flat spot the rubber on the rotary wheel.

Aw, what a great gift! Very pretty!

WOW really nice..

I don't think the Singer sewing machine oil is any different now than it was back when? Isn't it still available? I need to get some too. Forgot to look and see if they had any when at WM Saturday.

Thanks for the quick response on the oil question. I have to work tonight, so i won't get to play with it until next weekend.
I am so excited! LOL |
Oh my goodness that is awesome. What a nice Great Auntie.

Wonderful, you are going to love this!

I think it will work... that is what I just used on my Singer 401A
What a sweet aunt to give it to you... she knows you will love and appreciate it  |
Gracious, now that is a wonderful gift. Hope you have many hours of fun on it. Love to have it, too.
Blessings, Ruth |
She gave it to me to sell so I could put toward buying a new machine. She is 87 and bought it in March of 1950. I told her I wouldn't sell it unless I needed money for bills or food. And I'm ok there. I doubt I can get much for it anyway.

Lucky you!

I just found one almost like this on Craigslist. Only differents is the style of the handles. Told me I had to have it. $70 later I am the proud ower;) . Only thing wrong is needs a little repair work(minor) and the needle cup bottom is not there(only the cover) .
Could you post a pic of what the whole needle cup looks like. Linda/MI |
Very nice machine and it has such a roomy fold out cabinet. I'm sure you'll enjoy her!
