I have to admit, if I have enough fabric to do this - I have enough to consider it a stash. Whoo Hooo!!! I find I tend to buy 3 yards at a time. Either Walmart - and low priced anyway, or Joannes with a 50% off coupon. I have one by my office and go there at least twice a week :)

I got a few of the bolt thingies (do they have a name?) from Joannes yesterday and just used cardboard for the rest today. Cleaned out the closet yesterday and now if I ever finish a real project, I just might get this room turned into my sewing room!

Fabric all nice and tidy

And even better - the closet all nice and tidy

Your next stop should be Plattsburgh, NY to do mine. Now is time to mess it up again.

That's a cool idea. Did you just ask if you could have some?

sawsan 03-21-2010 10:15 AM

sewing room!nice and tidy. Good 4 u
Now work is easer and more creative for sure

I did just ask. I wanted my husband to make some for me and when we "stopped" at Joannes, he had me ask. I was a little reluctant - but they were very nice and said they normally just throw them away. I got about 6 or 7 of them.

As it turned out I didn't want to wait for him, so I got the utility knife and went to town :-D

It's wonderful!! :D You are going to be so pleased with your new organized closet. Doesn't it feel great getting a project like this all done? :D Thank you for inspiring the rest of us!!

Nice organization, so did you cut down the cardboard tubes from Joann's??

cminor 03-21-2010 11:39 AM

No, the ones I got from Joannes are used as is. I cut down cardboard boxes we had in the basement to make most of what I had. The Joanne ones are much nicer on the left. Mine were much flatter :)

Please come and organize my fabrics. I have some of the empty fabric bolts but just never seem to find the time to get anything like that done. Great job.

I bought a 4' x 6' White cabinet divided in half and folded my fabrics with a ruler and put the big pieces along back and folded smaller pieces and stacked front to back in front. Now all I have to do is pull out a stack of small pieces to see if I want to use any large pieces in the back. Shelves are factory finished and very smooth. I love being able to see if all my fabrics. The cabinet takes up less room than plastic tubs and makes the room look so much neater. Wish I would have thought of this long ago.
