I would buy a few also, please let us know if he's interested. I would rather purchase from someone on the board and pay more than going to sewing stores to get. Thank you so much, they are beautiful.

great aunt jacqui 04-17-2011 07:01 AM

He makes pens and key chains that hold pills. He sells them. So I guess my answer is yes. LOL

YES!! My dad was incredibly talented and my husband is the least handy man I have ever met. : (

The seam ripper is gorgeous! I LOVE IT!! Where does he sell them? I can just imagine how good that feels in your hand. Hope it makes the lousy job of ripping out seem better!! : )

my dad is very handy too but like you DH not so much.

Tinabug 04-17-2011 08:11 AM

Oh my goodness, I just love tools with wooden handles. I collect and use them a lot. Even my kitchen wooden spoons are all hand made by artisans(which I take care of properly.) I have large hands for a women and those tiny little rippers just make me mad! Definitely will buy one or two!! Looks a bit like stained birds eye maple. Please do encourage him to continue. Depending upon how long it takes him to make one, I would suggest $10-$12

Tinabug 04-17-2011 08:14 AM

ooo,ooo I have a suggestion, if he has to buy them we could all find those little lost buggers we have and send 'em your way! Go Green!

Doreen 04-17-2011 08:36 AM

Let us know when he has some for sale. Put them in the "classified"

lbc 04-17-2011 08:55 AM

Let us know when he wants to start selling them and what the price would be.

Yes, he turns them on a lathe using my grandfathers tools! My grandfather died in 1954. I kept those tools all these years. :)

Kooklabell 04-17-2011 11:46 AM

Hubby is now making one that is larger - easier for us to use for longer periods of time ( I rip alot) or if you have arthritis. I'll post when he finishes. He's using Mahogany this time :)

Absolutely. He's busy making a new style now :) He fully understands people liking his pens and such, but he's rather confused about our love for gadgets LOL

jograma 04-17-2011 12:23 PM

Wow, way cool! Do you dare use something so nice?

Very pretty!
Maybe he'll branch out into a collection of sewing tools..
A needle case - something similar to the "purple thang" - needle threader - etc etc..
I'm envisioning matched sets!

Tilladare 04-17-2011 04:15 PM

How about a stiletto that is actually pointed

BevF 04-17-2011 05:15 PM

WOW!!! (I'd put a screw eye in the end and put it on a long chain so I wouldn't lose it!) What a great guy! Where did you find him????

so-sew 04-17-2011 05:23 PM

What a special gift. I love to hear how husbands support their wives' quilting hobby (addiction for me).

javin22 04-17-2011 05:25 PM

emmy 04-17-2011 05:57 PM

This one was a surprise. He asked if he could borrow my ripper and he brought it back with a wooden handle. He's such a sweety (at times) :)

colleen53 04-19-2011 03:11 PM

this is a nice product.. i think the pointed stiletto is a fantastic idea as well.

Marvel 04-20-2011 01:47 PM

angelahen 04-20-2011 02:09 PM

Lovely. I think its really nice to use something that was made for you by someone you love. Makes using it not so bad.
