I would love to see what the money one would look like in a stack and whack.!

Shemjo 05-30-2009 04:13 PM

Those are all very suitable for Stack and whack! I see possibilities all the time! Can't post from home with dial up, but will take photos and show them in a few days.

Kyiav10 05-30-2009 05:12 PM

Can't wait to see them complete.

Wow, show us pics of what they look like as a kaleidoscope.

Mousie 05-30-2009 07:08 PM

thanks, Rhonda. I haven't gotten round to a kaleidoscope block...yet, but wondered what kind of print is needed...you know...so can snatch a few, while shopping, for that - one day. :D
I loooove that first fabric. What's it called?

amma 05-30-2009 07:42 PM

Oooo so pretty!!! Can't wait to see some blocks now :D :D  :D :D

The Duchman's Store is owned and run by a Mennonite family. It is an old fashioned store that stocks a little of everything from fabric to shoes to bulk groceries. The fabric they have I have never seen anywhere else.
I took pictures of this fabric because K3n and I had talked about finding fabric for kaleidoscopes. So I took these so she could see if there is anything she can use.
I don't mind sending any of it to someone if they reimburse me for the fabric and shipping. I am not selling anything - just doing a favor.

I love the prints but I have discovered that the busy fabric doesn't work for my Dresden Kaleidoscopes.

But you will have to wait to see any stack and wack from K3n or someone else!

Thank you QnC but I won't be making any! I took the pictures for K3n and I tried one I got the last time I bought there and the busy stuff doens't work very well for what I do. (Dresden Kaleidoscopes)
Hope someone else is willing to try one of them because I too would love to see them done in the stack and whack. I don't know how to do the stack and whack so I will pass that on to someone else!

Anyone want to try one? I will get it and send it if you reimburse me for the fabric! I would love to see what the money one would look like!

Love the fabric. Just not too crazy about the stack and whack for myself. My MIL REALLY likes that pattern, so I am very familiar with it. It does take a lot of attention to detail.

I wonder what the different patterns will yield.

Butterflyspain 05-31-2009 06:53 AM

They are lovely fabrics, love the teacup one and the first one, but they are all gorgeous.

Martina - I'm on my second one and it's really fun to do! It's amazing how the stack n whack deconstucts the fabric and recreates it in different ways. The dog one I'm working on, in one block there are ears going round in a circle and they look just like feathers! I love it! Also because there's so much going on in the pattern, if seams don't quite meet, it doesn't matter! I'm by no means a perfect piecer but the end result is fab! Try it!

Rhonda, thanks so much for doing this! Everyone else - I'm looking into doing chickens, cats and teacups! So thats three more potential WIPs for the list!
:D

K3n I look forward to seeing the teacups in the stack and whack!! I think that one will be very interesting! :D :D

ok, K, it's up to you to show us more, or somebody that doesn't have a
'to do' list as long as mine!
I would love to see money, multiplied!!!

Rhonda, your Dresdan Kaleidoscope sounds lovely. I would love to see a picture.

Those fabric's are beautiful. I have hade 3 S&W's and think any of them would work well.

These are kaleidoscopes but you can see that they have a totally differant look from what Izy and K3n and others do with the stack and whack. I don't think it is at all hard to fussy cut. I like the fact that I get to decide what it looks like more than the stack and whack method does.
They are both great artistic looks just differant from each other in many ways!

humbird 06-01-2009 04:44 AM

Those Dresdans are beautiful. Fabric choices are very nice.

Grandma Cindy 06-02-2009 09:57 AM

have you shown less busy fabric examples for the DK's?

SulaBug 06-02-2009 10:03 AM

Rhonda,
I just love those fabrics that you are sharing with us.
I just down downloaded your Desden Kaleidoscope &
am so excited to try it out. Wish me LUCK!!
:D :D :D :D :D

Cindy You need to have a certain amount of design in your fabric but if you see one you think you might like to try you can buy a yard or even a half yard and try it to see if it looks good to you. I do a lot by trial and error and I have had some work and some don't.
I just know now what I like but you may find something less busy that you like.

The ones I posted here on this thread I did for K3n. They are not what I use for my Dresdens. These here are for the stack and whack which works better with a busier fabric. It is all a choice in how you want to do it.

Hope that helps to explain!

Thanks for buying my book Sulabug! And I wish you a good fun time playing with the Dresden Kaleidoscopes! I think they are so much fun because you always get a surprise when you put the sections together!
I never know how they will look til they are actually sewn! So fun~

If I can help just give me a holler!! (a little Iowa slang!) something you hear people say here all the time --"just give me a holler if you need me."
