I would buy a lottery ticket if they have them in your part of the country. I am jealous. It's not that I don't have a stash, but you can never have too big of a stash. I am soooo happy for you.

karate lady 06-09-2010 08:07 PM

I recently went to a yard sale of a lady who was getting rid of her fabric. I went home with a box full for less than $7.00 I think every quilter in town was there...

Is there a Quilters Anonymous? And what meds do you take to kill the fabric addictions? Quitting quilting??? Sounds like an AWFUL way to go!!
Congrats on the haul. If you could remember where you lived, some of us might show up to help you gloat!

She lives in a very small apt and she wants to pursue other hobbies she said.

I'm sorry she is giving up the craft, but lucky for all of is who bought her fabric. She has excellent taste in fabric too! She also donated some to our community quilts group which she used to be a member of.

mamawolf 06-10-2010 05:38 PM

You are indeed fortunate to have such an opportunity to purchase all those fabrics. Do hope the lady who is selling the fabrics is going to be busy with happy activities, know you will be once you get everything organized. I wouldn't be able to sleep all night.

joellenc 06-10-2010 08:39 PM

OMG--I had that off white with red and green stars on it and made so many Christmas projects---then ran out and couldn't find it anymore! It's wonderful for background fabric for any of Carol Doak's pp stars!
If you know where they sell this, please post!

Ditter43 06-10-2010 08:58 PM

adrianlee 06-11-2010 06:54 AM

Oh, envy!!! You are so lucky! Several years ago I happened on a yard sale, the lady was moving and selling most of her fabrics. Her grand-daughters were helping her. $5 a Walmart bag full. Stuff as much as you can in a WM bag and it's $5. I tell you there are some really aggressive sewers out there. I had hubby with me so he guarded my sacks with his life. I even got elbowed when I was at one of the fabric tables. Yes, I did try to act like a lady until I got elbowed.

karate lady 06-11-2010 07:28 AM

the sale I went to there were lots of ladies there in a rather small garage, but everyone was so polite. we were laughing and exchanging ideas and where we lived. even helping each other find a specific type of material. no pushing. shoving or rudeness.. it was a really lfun experience....sorry you ran into a jerk.

Bevanger 06-11-2010 07:46 AM

Wow! lucky you

GladGrams 06-11-2010 01:04 PM

WOWZIE!

Luv Quilts and Cats 06-11-2010 04:20 PM

How could anyone give up quilting? Because I have tried. Sold most of my stash, but did not part with patterns and books. That lasted about a year and a half. Then I started buying fabric again and quilting! Like the Eagles song says "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." LOL :D

Mousie 06-11-2010 04:39 PM

DOOGGONE!!! sew, are you having a great week yet???? ;)
