What a clever solution to the problem. Looks great too!

lisalovesquilting 04-13-2010 02:31 PM

Very clever!

You're a genius! Why didn't I think of that?
So simple but practical.
You should patent it and make a million dollars!
I love looking at your projects.

Great!!! And I like the sewing room too! ;-)

Thanks! I love sewing outside! my little Janome loves being out there too!

sewnsewer2 04-13-2010 02:40 PM

They look good and what a great idea!

But why do you sew outside? Aren't you afraid of dirt flying around getting into your machine?

dkabasketlady 04-13-2010 02:54 PM

Very nice!!

no..no dirt flying around..i take that little baby with me camping too! lol! i get her cleaned once a year by the dealer..so far so good! she is 4 years old now. no problems at all.

besides my sewing room is a mess!

And i was waiting for people to come over and dig up and split my perennials..i offered them up on a local garden board..we all benifit from it! they get flowers and i get my stuff split up..with Fibromyalgia, it works better this way for me.

Don't you just love sewing outside ! i drive my neighbors crazy when I do it, but I love being outside

Great job on the cushions  How did you attach them to the original backs ?

Pam 04-13-2010 04:39 PM

Excellent fix!! I love it!

wvdek 04-13-2010 05:35 PM

What a stupedous idea!
You just gave me a great idea for a folding chair my dear friend uses at Sunday School. She is disabled and has to use a back pillow and cushion and the back pillow alway's falls out the back. Now I know how to fix it for her.

Thanks for the great idea.

Took me a min to catch on but then saw the second pic. ( Takes me awhile sometimes )LOL That is a fantastic idea. You are very creative

watterstide 04-14-2010 02:32 AM

i was going to try to find the webbing to do it..and no one around here had any of the stuff. then joe says..sew something..lol!
i have had such a rough week..that these simple things brings me so much joy! i was just giddy over this simple fix! lol
so the next simple thing will be to take a couple of my old outdoor cushions and recover them for the little furbabies to lay on outside. i have left over fabric. may as well use it up.
first time i have worked with the heavier outdoor fabric.
i didn't have any of the heavier thread either..so i used a back stitch to make it last ...

Pats8e8 04-14-2010 05:06 PM

Good idea!

baubo1234 04-14-2010 05:24 PM

what a great idea, I made new cushions for my swing one year, took the sewing machine outside to work, then decided to make a new canopy cover also. Turned out great.

i made cushions one year too..took all the material off the swing. painted it. i need to do the canopy also. how did you manage that? i do not want to take it apart..

sewcrafty 04-15-2010 02:42 AM

Great idea!!!!

baubo1234 04-15-2010 09:49 AM

I took the canopy off the swing frame and re-made it by using outdoor fabric and using the pieces of the old one as a template. It was a lot of work , but it was worth it. It is easier if you have 2 people to do it. It is a lot of fabric and we just laid it on the deck to cut out. Hope this helps.

watterstide 04-15-2010 10:15 AM

i took the one bar off last year..because it was easy..i was thinking i would have to use hvy duty snaps or something like that. i will have a look at it again.
i saved all the fabrics, they are in a box somewhere in the basement.
i was playing with the idea of using the mesh we use to make totes..it is a plastic and comes is loads of colors. the wind took the swaing off the desk a few years ago durig a storm.
