I have 7 pairs of little snippers - use them to cut the little threads - easier for me to hold. Well my work area is very small - but for some reason today I couldn't keep track of any of my scissors....I lost all 7 pairs at some point or another under paper; under batting; on the floor; under material.

So I made this....I better not have this same problem tomorrow!!! I took some scraps and viola - and I attached it to the machine using double sided sticky hemming tape!

Clever and smart move and very useful information. I may have to make myself one of these (smile). Thank you for sharing.

Brilliant!

Mine are probably also lost under your mess. I cleaned mine up and they're still MIA.

I think I should make myself something like this, only with small plastic or metal cans inside it. I've lost both of my seam rippers, either from flinging them across the room in anger, or my darn cat bats them around and they're probably way under the book case. I stopped and got 3 more from Joann's today, it was on my way to another store. Those 3 should last me through this @#%^&* kids' lap quilt I'm making.

Now THAT's a darn good idea. Suction cups. I have several of them and no idea of what to do with these extras. Perfect.

I never would have thought of suction cups...but I like my three pockets because someone else mentioned seam rippers - I put one in there now! The 3rd pocket has a candy bar - cause I know I'll need it later!

I lost my best Singer shears when I was 22 and at college. I found them 35 years later when I had to repair my Cogswell rocker that I had owned since that first apartment. They had been lodged inside the chair, wedged in the springs. No matter how many times I moved that rocker over the years, they never budged. It was only when I removed the fabric from the bottom, up ended the chair to reattach the arm, that I found them. Maybe if I had one of these, my scissors would not have been lost for so long!

Nice!!!

This is a cute idea, also liked the suction cup! This group is so full of great tips and information.

Melrose R 03-24-2011 08:36 PM

Great idea!

BevF 03-24-2011 08:38 PM

Great idea as long as you remember to put them in there instead of putting them down somewhere else. Did you check your waste basket? Now you'll probably find the 7 in the same place. LOL

that is something I would do. Forget to put them in the pouch. I am always losing my seam rippers and I have quite a few of them.

Checked the waste basket - just found one in my boot - I wear an air boot (short story - I tore all the tendons in my right ankle) well I took the boot off because my left foot was getting tired from using the machine and when I went to put it back on I found one pair of snippers inside it - guess that's what I get for leaving it under the table my machine sits on!

Really got a kick out of this post. I now know where my scissors, and rippers are. They are at your house.Like the candy bar idea, but it would always be empty at my house, because that would be the first thing I would do-- eat it. LOL

katigirl 03-24-2011 11:25 PM

They probably weren't lost. They were just playing hide and seek with you. lol.

BETTY62 03-25-2011 01:20 AM

How smart. I need one of those for my seam ripper. LOL.

BZEQUILTER 03-25-2011 05:11 AM

Great idea!! I thought I was the only one who did things like that!! I've even taken to wearing a lanyard with them attached!! I bought a really nice sewing machine cabinet so I would have lots of work space--but it just stays buried with all my junk!!!

snicker dee 03-28-2011 03:53 AM

If it is small I blame it on the cats. Otherwise I am in te same boat as the rest of you. I have a kazillion pair of them too. I love postings like this one ... makes me feel so normal.
