this is just another simple little quilt for a baby at church. i made it a few months ago and forgot to post it. some of you know how i love the crow foot tacking. super quick hand work.

Very cute! Do you use thread or embordery floss for the tacking?

nanabirdmo 08-07-2009 07:22 AM

hi swimmom, i use the light weight crochet thread for the crow foot tacking. sorry i dont know what it is called. it comes in big round balls. what grandma used to make doilies.

Thanks, I know exactly what you are talking about. I will keep your crow foot tacking idea in mind - seems like such an useful alternative.

Really nice looking quilt! I like that quilting you did on the top, it makes for a very nice looking finish on it.

Just dandy like candy!
That handwork is really the icing on the cake, isn't it? <g>

nanabirdmo 08-08-2009 05:03 AM

thank you all for the compliments. i do use the crow foot tacking a lot on most of the very simple blocks. it seems to work best on those blocks that are not very intricately pieced. just sort of sets them off. also i don't have to mark to do this tacking like with the hand quilting designs. all in all it is the least complicated process to get that quilt finished. and boy does it feel good to have one less ufo. lol
