I made this simply because I loved the panel and the colors! Just did some simple borders and SITD.

quiltsRfun 06-03-2011 02:11 PM

I love that panel, too. It makes a darling quilt.

mzsooz 06-03-2011 02:23 PM

I love it too!! Turned out very cute! Is this Moda's Lollipop?

yetta 06-03-2011 02:27 PM

it is a darling quilt...

MellieKQuilter 06-03-2011 02:33 PM

I honestly dont remember the line... :-/ I got the panel and coordinates at Craft Warehouse. I think it is a Moda line tho

frugalfabrics 06-03-2011 02:35 PM

I've seen that owl on lots of prints lately...very cute.

cat-on-a-mac 06-03-2011 02:36 PM

Yes, that's a really nice panel. I especially like the birds. It's hard to tell from the picture ... did you do any quilting around the elements in the panel itself?

cjomomma 06-03-2011 02:37 PM

I love it too! I remember seeing the panel online but I can't remember where.

dmyers 06-03-2011 02:39 PM

I tried... and failed. Ugh. :( I ended up picking out what I did do. I was using walking foot, so maybe that was part of the problem? I tried the FMQ foot, but I would end up with big and small stiches. I may still try it again (i know, prob shouldnt since it is finished and bound, but its just a house lap quilt).

That's really nice.

If you want to experiment .. yes, I would definitely do FMQ. If you wanted to highlight the birds, you could just FMQ their outline. And then, some kind of meander in the trees would make them recede a bit to let the birds stand out. it really doesn't matter if the stitches are not all exactly the same length... just have fun with it.

Yes those simple borders are simply beautiful. They do not detract from the lovely panel

Thanks for the encouragment! :)

Someone else had made a quilt with that panel months ago. I didn't know it was a panel & used the picture for the basis of one of my little girl quilts!! I LOVED that panel/quilt! It was my 1st attempt at applique. I mostly ended up only using the trees in the end & then adding
other things to it. I'm glad you posted it so I can see it again.

I thought if I cheated, this would be finished Christmas 2010. I must not have cheated enough because it's still not finished.

Sallyflymi 06-21-2011 03:13 PM

Funny!! My mom sent me a package today that had a little dress she had smocked for my grand daughter. It is made of that same gingerbread man fabric!!! What a coincidence to see it in your quilt today!

BrendaY 06-26-2011 03:23 PM
