I have been working on quilt bindings today and with the tutorial in front of me that that someone posted the link to (Riley Blake Designs -- Cutting Corners: Binding Basics tutorial) I have successfully bound these and am happy with the outcome. I had been doing everything right except I never could get the ends connected correctly. I am so glad to have learned a good way to do it.
The schoolhouse quilt is from blocks on a give-away table at guild meeting. They were leftovers from an estate. I had border fabric in my stash that worked.
The pinwheel is the 3-D pinwheel I learned how to do on this board.
The other quilt is my "President's Quilt" from blocks given to me last year while I was president of the guild. I chose the block pattern and the color wave. I have to dampen the binding and get it flattened out---bit curvy now!

OOPS -- I just realized the picture of the school houses isn't the bound quilt. Oh, well, the binding looks pretty good anyway. :)

Good to know the tut is great. I plan to follow it for my next binding. Squared up the quilt top today, but other projects take priority. It will come to the top soon.
Your quilt is gorgeous!

Great job, love the quilts. I was also working :x on the binding for my charity quilt that is due for tomorrow...Did I mention just how much I hate hate binding....I started off hand stitching it to the back, but there was no way my hands were going to let me do it...so I followed Sharon Schambler's tutorial but I just can't seem to hit the binding on the back :x . Oh well it is what it is...It's in the dryer and will take it into the auction tomorrow morning.....

Beautiful quilts...glad you conquered binding! I actually love doing bindings...weird but true...find it almost as satisfying as quilting.

When I started sewing my binding on using the 1/4 inch foot, it's been easier, but I still have to do quite a bit of pinning --I use very fine quilting pins and can sew over them. I have found a 2" binding works best for me, too. I used to use a 2 1/2 inch binding. I've been at this business for years, but it is always rewarding to learn how to do something easier or better!

Nice quilts. ... I have not sewn a binding on by hand in years. Love doing them by machine.

Thanks for the tut. This is how I end my binding but it is usually a space of time between bindings.....and a lot of frustration trying to remember how to do it. Now I have pictures!!!
