All are lovely!!! What an accomplishment being able to pull off the surprise on your hubby! I think I may have some of the same designs as those I see in your other quilts:) Maybe I should be using them, too!
Very nice work. I am not sure I would have the patience to learn all the embroidery machine techniques.
What a treasure trove! These are all great. Thanks for posting them.
Wow, what a collection of beautiful designs. Thanks for sharing.
I love every one of those....beautiful!!!
Love each and everyone--but the golden years pillow is very "special". LOL
Wow- Beautiful work!
Great job. I really love the sashing on the Dahlia quilt. I also love embroidery in quilts, but I found that doing embroidery is very, very time consuming. And oh boy how frustrating it is when a design get ruined after you've spent hours working on it. Love all your quilts.
WOW! Thank you for the.very nice quilt show. Awesome quilts you must be 1 very busy Lady.
I agree with everyone else. You make beautiful quilts!
They are so pretty...inspires me to learn the features and practise on my embroidery machine instead of always piecing and quilting with it!!!
Oh my ohmy, You do that so effectively. I haven't always been fond of how the two have been combined, well I am now after seeing yours.
I like combining embroidery with the quilting. Great job and I truly love the pillow, lol.....and it is so true. LOVE IT!!!!!!
First, your work is lovely! But I especially loved the Golden Years pillow. Would love to make one for hubby. He is in hospital recouperating from open heart surgery (all going well) and I have copied it down to at least read to him. I think it will make his day, Thank you, Shelburn

Each is prettier than the next
Wow....you have a really good time with your machines!! All of your work is outstanding!!! :)
Your quilts are lovely. I too machine embroidery and I know how many hours it takes to complete one of these. I just have a Husqvarna Designer I so I only have one needle and it does take longer than a commercial embroidery machine. I wish I could afford a nice 5,6 needle machine. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic quilts. I'm really encouraged now to mix my embroidery machine with my quilting. Thanks for sharing these.
I LOVE the Golden years pillow
You have been a busy lady, they are all so pretty. My embroidery machine only does 4"X4" so I haven't tried the quilt blocks yet.
You did a wonderful job.. Thasnks for sharing. |
I need to fire up my embroidery machine. Your work is inspiring.
:o Your work is beautiful. Wish I had the time to finish just one project. I've got an embroidery machine which I should try something like this.
All of these are beautiful!!
Thanks for the compliment!!!!
Wow, u r soooo right when you say that embroidery is very time consuming! Most of the embroidery I have done on the quilts takes up to an hour (sometimes more) per design. This is not straight embroidery - this includes all the thread changes! So altho I tend to crank out quilts quite quickly (or so I am told), it is only because I am a bit OCD and I work on them and nothing else until they are finished! lol (And yes, any time I have a project on the go, my house is completely trashed! Thank goodness for an understanding hubby!) Thanks again for the compliment! |
Do you use mainly 4x4 or larger patterns? What kind of ratio do you consider - meaning the size of the fabric block to the size of the embroidery pattern - like 4x4 - would you maybe plan that for a 6x6 or larger finished fabric block? Your work is definitely inspiration to get in and stitch. Beautiful work and planning.

Thank you!
I do hope that the poem will give yr hubby a chuckle and lighten up his day! Wishing him a speedy recovery! |
Thanks!
I don't have a commercial embroidery machine. All my work is done on the Bernina 200 with embroidery module and I too only have one needle. But hey, there are 5 and 6 needle machines available that could get my work done faster for me????!!!! lol Yes, I too, would love one of them but definitely out of my price range! Thanks again for the compliment! |
I don't tend to use any particular size of embroidery pattern. Thanks for the compliment on planning but I really don't do much planning ahead! lol I just start doing the embroidery (because it takes so long) and then decide what I am going to do as I go along. Once the blocks are embroidered, I take a look at them and try to decide what finished size they would look best in. On the rare occasion that I do know exactly what I want to do, something happens and the plan changes!!! So really, I just do the embroidery and wing the rest! I have done embroidery patterns that are roughly 4" right up to the latest quilt top that I just completed with an 8x10" embroidery.
Sorry I can't be of more help to you but like I said, I normally just wing it and hope for the best! lol |
I love them. I really need to get serious on working on my stuff. So much to do and so little time.
The butterflies embroidery is from Dakota Collectibles - Butterflies #2. The birds are Valerie Pheiffer Songbirds. She has some beautiful, beautiful bird patterns....which are still on my 'must have' list! lol Also, in case you haven't heard about sewforless.com - it is a great website. Check it out and watch for the sales!
Hope this helps! |
Now you make good use of the embroidery machine. Mine just sits there. All I use it for is quilting. Your quilts are lovely.
Thanks for sharing. |
love the bird quilt. What design is that? My mother loves birds and would love that. I have an embroidery machine and I'd love to do the birds.
sorry I just saw you already answered my question, lol
Beautyful work. I love all of your quilts. How do u machine embroider a large quilt. I tried and made a mess out of my quilt. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks
Lovely quilts. Especially love the one for your DH & the P.S. on the bottom. No wonder he had a tear in his eye.
