I made these yesterday and finished then last night for my daughter and I and now I think my sewing machine is broke..... It won't go up and down and the hand wheel won't turn, it's like it's stuck or something   We tried to fix it but it's best we take it to the shop. I hope it's an easy fix and inexpensive. Just when I was getting the sewing itch the darn machine freezes.

Lovely bags. Sorry your machine quit. I have 2 machines so I will always have a spare while the other is in the shop.

beautiful!!!! Sorry about the machine. We had laptop computer that did something similar.....just when we went on the road for the winter, it quit working. Took it to be repaired and it was just dust in the fan....cost us $60.00 but was FAR cheaper than a new one. Hope you have the same fortune!!!

Sorry about the machine, but the bags are just gorgeous!!!
|
Gorgeous bags. Maybe a stupid question, but have you simply tried cleaning and oiling?

I normally clean the bobbin area after I start a new project. So this morning I did that and when I went to turn the hand wheel it didn't move. Grrrr. I called a place and they are not sure if it's covered under the warranty but it will cost $99. The machine is the Brother SE-350. Is there any tips on how to make it move? I do have lots of spares, LOL the FW's and the 301. I guess it's time to start using one of them, I mean learning how to use :) I am use to the luxury of pressing the button and letting it sew, now I'll have to step on the pedal. Oh well... Life goes on.... |
BEAUTIFUL BAGS...
Sorry about your machine.... bopeep |
Love it!
|
Love both your purse and tote! Sew sorry about tour machine, glad that you have a spare, but it's still not the same when you have one fav. machine to use! I hope it's a cheap fix!
|
My machine did the same thing yesterday. It turned out a loose screw in the housing that holds the bobbin mechanism in place. Of course I broke three needles before I figured it out. (grin)
Good luck with you machine. I hope it is something minor and easy to fix. |
Great bag and I love the colors. Black, white and red are so cool together. I hope your machine can be fixed easily and cheaply. I hate it when that happens.
|
Very pretty bags. Good luck with repair.

Great bags!!!
Sounds like you may have some thread jammed into your machine. Have you tried blowing out the bobbin area with the some canned air? Worth a try...... |
When I first used my Bailey machine the same thing happened and I was absolutely terrified. I had bent a needle and it was stuck half in if that makes sense.
My mother told me to take out the needle. I wasn't able to do that since it was jammed in there badly - so I had to unscrew the plate and remove the bobbin housing and all and then I was able to get the needle out. You probably have something just stuck in there to be honest with you - clean it out really really good. Do you remember breaking a needle when you made the bags? It might have gotten lodged in the bobbin area - just take it all apart. You'll find the culprit ;) |
Very pretty bags and I hope your machine gets all better soon
|
Lovely bags, you did a great job.
Check the bobbin area. Mine does that when a piece of thread gets stuck in the chase. It can be just a tiny little piece of thread, so take it apart and clean well. Hope that is all it is. |
Darling Bag! So sorry about your machine - that's why I NEED more than one - hubby does NOT understand that! hahaha
|
Awesome bags! Hope your machine is a quick fix. I have had the same thing happen with mine and it was like the others said, a piece of thread jammed in tight!
|
when was it oiled last, years ago I had a machine do this and the repair guy just laughed....added oil and then broke it loose and away it went....I was more regular with the oiling after that....

Gorgeous!
Hope your sewing machine is a quick fix. |
I'm sure it's thread jammed in there. We have unscrewed the whole machine and can't get it to come apart, and under the bobbin area, which is where the problem is, is a metal bar that we can't get off or move even when we unscrewed it. We found a small white plastic thingy and that probably came off one of the plastic white gears.... ERRRRR. Now I'm debating on whether or not I want to get it fixed now or later and/or get another machine. I started up the FW and it's just so not the same.... But it sews so perfectly :)

Thank you all for the compliments! At least I got the bags finished! The smaller one for my daughter is when I started to have problems and I know for a fact that it's when I did the handles because it was late and I wanted to get it done. I normally have no problems with the handles on any of the other bags I made but I did the handles differently this time. Next time, I'm sticking to "usual" way.
