I have attached the four final choices for a quilt for the master bedroom. I love all of them (especially plaid) and DH jumped in to help with choices (first time ever) and his top two choices are Spinning Wheels of Color (SWC) and Algonquin Charm (AC). We had planned to do the room in Hunter Green and Navy which works for the AC pattern. I could come up with 8 colors for the AWC with the color pallet of a painting we have in the room. It would be a wheel of muted (not pastel) blue, green, lavendar, terra cotta, a mutted butter yellow, burgundy, rose and cream. The problem with choosing SWC is that I can't visualize the rest of the decor of the room. The room also tends to be a little dark (good for sleeping, gloomy in the daytime) so, any ideas for paint etc?

i like the second one

I really like the second one.
|
third, I would use the apricot color of the SWC myself, but I love deep rich colors on the walls.

If the room is already gloomy paint with a lighter color. It will help lighten up the room. As well as using a semi gloss instead of a satin or a flat paint. It will help the light bounce off of the walls.
I like the spinning wheel of color. You could paint with the lightest shade of blue or even white. Also gives you lots of choices for accents for throw pillows, curtains and such! |
I like the 2nd one.
|
I'm surprised at the other choices, because I prefer the first one for a bedroom by far. The white in it adds brightness, the blue is very calming, and the arrangement is balanced and tranquil.
|
I can't help you. I love all of them.
|
Algonquin Charm! :)
|
I like the first one best. Second place goes to the last one.
|
Very close between the second and the third one for me. Actually really like them all.
|
My favorite is the Algonquin Charm. It's really pretty.

I like the Algonquin Charm with a very pale blue paint for the walls.

I liked the way my spinning wheel turned out.

I like to "box" my own paint from oops paints I find here and there. I'd try to match the "muted butter yellow", but cut that butter with a white (pinky-white not blue-white) to soften and lighten it.
Or you could do it the easy way and just go pick out some nice soft buttery yellow paint chips and take them home and pick one! |

They are all lovely but my favorite is the AC one. To me it's bright without being overpowering. It has enough of a swirly pattern to be interesting but also has a calmness/symmetry that I would like for my bedroom. That's my humble opinion.

I like sage blossom

I have a quilt on my bed right now in the spinning wheels colors .I chose a pale blue for the wall color and my drapes are off white with small bits of primary colors.I also add pillows in some of the colors .It looks great and I change quilts every 4 months. This is my winter time quilt. For summer I do paler colors but this works for me as these colors are in the same family. In your future may be each of these quilts and they will each work if you stay with a similar color family.

I vote for the first one! Pretty colors too!
|
spinning wheels then. that should help the room feel bright.
|
I like AC best and Sage Bud next.
|
I really want to honor DH's choice as he doesn't ask for much and it is nice to have his input. I am thinking about doing the AC in hunter and navy then making smaller SWC on a navy background as throws on the end of the bed. That way we can each control the heat if we are too hot or too cold. I LOVE the butter yellow walls suggestion and have a restorations hardware color that will be perfect. It is a little muted without being muddy.
I still love the Plaid quilt pattern and think I will make it for the guest room. |
I like AC and SWC best. Normally I prefer light and bright, but we made our bedroom dark. We like it that way bec it is great for sleeping ... like a cave. The dark lessens the stimulation in our surroundings. I had to sleep in the daytime for many years and having a dark room helped
