I will post more later as I progress. These show to where I am now. I am using a layer of woven poly fabric from a bedruffle I deconstructed to stabilize the knit fabric. Also, on some I am using plaid flannel for backing. I am going to try QAYG on this. Another first for me, wish me luck!!
worked away at them started with a pile of tshirts turned them into this neat stack of squares moved on to checking them out on the design wall |
You've got a great start going and I know it's going to turn out awesone. Also, I love your work space. What nice winows.

This quilt is going to be donated to a fundraising event for auctioning off. All the shirts came from groups and bands and people who support the venue. |
Great start you have there. Look forward to seeing what you do with these. You have a real knack for putting things together. Handy having that hot tub there...and the view is beautiful.

What a coincidense, I'm making my first t-shirt quilt too!
I'm making it for my daughter. I decided to make hers when I was asked by someone to make one for them ( I'll get paid for that one ). I figure I'll make one and get the kinks out first, then do theirs. The hardest part for me is trying to figure out the quilting of it. Oh well, we'll see.... |
This is really neat. Now I see why a design wall is important to quilters. Thanks for sharing.
|
I need to get started on mine too. I have bags and bags of T-shirts the kids or I didn't want to get rid of.
|
Nice job so far.
|
I really want to make one someday. Yours is looking good!!
|
Thank you for sharing your quilt as you go along. I'm very interested in the process, I'm to start one soon for my niece using her sports uniforms.

I decided to use some ticking and similar stripes for sashing, here is my start on putting together the blocks:
I'm also tossing in some flannel shirt scraps and since the theme of the Farm is Americana, I am using a great fabric with that theme for some extra space fillers and for my border |
Nice job....
my hubby was just asking me about making his from concert shirts....Problem is there are probably around 200...maybe I will start on it this summer |
Love that sashing...coming along nicely.
|
That's going to be gorgeous when it's done! Those scraps do wonders. You've inspired me to cut up our tee-shirts. (My dh is still attached to some of his from the 70's though.)

Got the top all together and the border on. Too big to get it all in one photo but this gives you the general idea. Also got the back ready but didn't get a photo yet.
Tomorrow back meets top!! The small blue patch in the top row is from DH's music store, it says StoneCreek Music! top left facing quilt Other corner and most of bottom row |

Here is the fleece backing and some photos of the quilting, which is seperate from the quilting I did on the tshirt blocks. This is just for attaching the front to the backing and I used randomly spaced stars that I freehanded over the quilt top. It's all finished now and goes off to the venue tomorrow, well, today actually, lol.
pieced fleece backing random stars on backing another backing star stars from the top side more stars |
It's been fun everyone. Let's quilt together again soon!! Hugs, smiles, and happy quilting!!
