Just get started with a center block size and then decided how deep you want the block to set back. This is a very easy pattern to do. Here is a baby quilt I did using attic windows.

I love McKenna Ryan's patterns too. The newer ones have enough detail so I can enlarge them and machine applique using satin stitch. Finished the Sea Breeze working on Out & About. Fun!!!

Welcome! I lived in Alaska when I was very young; my Dad built most of the roads there in the 50's and 60's. I remember everyone knitted sweaters with wildlife on them. The quilts are also beautiful and bring back fond memories!

I collect bears, so I really love the first one. But, they are all wonderful. I was in Alaska several years ago, and I bought 2 kits, both with bear fabric; one in blue and white with Polar bears and one in green and browns with Grizzly bears.
You have used the animal prints to great advantage. Beautiful.

Elisabrat 06-05-2010 06:47 AM

Those are truly lovely quilts and I think you dont need to be a male to enjoy them just a nature lover. Welcome. Please share more and this is such a great place to be a voyer and get ideas!

Great quilts. I made sure I hit every quilt shop I could find when I was in Alaska on a cruise. I made a wallhanging from fabric I purchased there that had native Alaskan animals in black. It is my souvenior of the trip.
Welcome to the world of quilting.
