Beautiful quilt. Proud of him for joining the Marines. My husband was in the Marines and we lived in California at Oceanside for a little over a year.

We are very proud of our Mustang nephew-in-law. Thanks to the Marines he was able to get a college degree after 6 years of enlistment, graduated, went right back in as a Lt. and tomorrow is his promotion ceremony to rank of Major. The first one I will have missed, darn. All of this in 10 years!

soleegirl 06-02-2011 08:26 AM

Awesome . My son is a Marine also

soleegirl 06-02-2011 08:27 AM

My son and Daughter in law lived in oceanside before moving on base at Pendleton

libber 06-02-2011 11:41 AM

Yes, that is where our niece and nephew-in-law live, Oceanside, only he is deployed to south Texas for another year or more.

Thanks for the pdf. of Warm Wishes...I've seen a lot of posters refer to it, but never saw the pattern. BTW, I've made a quilt like the one in your avatar...looks hard, but very easy to put together!

Just love it. Hubby and I are both US Navy vets. He did 22 and I did 12 years
Have a Blessed night

Very nice. You must be very proud of your grandson. Will he be going to San Diego or Parris Island for boot camp. My son is a drill instructor at Parris Island. Good luck to your grandson. Semper Fi.

jeank 06-03-2011 08:21 AM

He will be in San Diego. Men from Michigan to there and all women to to Parris Island.

Today is his commencement and I will give him the quilt. I can't wait until this afternoon.

What a marvelous quilt. I know he will treasure it forever.

My son is a Marine and I've purchased some Marines fabric and am trying to choose a pattern for a quilt for him. I found a star pattern that I like and think I'll put the EGA panel in the center also.
Please tell your grands Thank You for serving!

Jeanniejo 06-06-2011 04:50 AM

Awesome !!!

Yankee Quilter 06-06-2011 05:30 AM

VERY nice. Our son was in the Marine Corps also.
Thank you for including the link to the pattern.

libber 06-06-2011 12:25 PM

Where did you get the Marine fabric, what manufacturer if you recall? My nephew-in-law has an English Bulldog, the mascot of the Marines. I would like to make him a quilt for Lou's (the dog) bed.

Marine fabric was Robert Kaufman and I got it at either Joann or Walmart quite a while ago.

AliceQ 06-06-2011 01:52 PM
