Thanks to all. I have finished my first mariners quilts block and that is the way it is. I have a few things I found out on the way. Always use a long stitch so that if the seams are not precise it is easy to pull out. If using light fabric I tried iron on interfacing and that stopped a lot of distorting on the bias. I only used 3 colours and had a discusson with DH and he came up with using verigated thread in yellow,blus and red.now i will try to put the photo up.

Thank you everyone for your encouriging comments. I sent the photo to my daughter and has ordered one for christmas Shara asked me to do one a few years ago and until now I did not have the courage to try. So you never stop learning. once again thank you.
